Our own Lianna, aka Yanobano is representing Hawaii on the CB this year. Clown emoticon Clown emoticon Clap emoticon Clap emoticon Team Hawaii!! Her dad's driving her support truck. Finally our rag tag group here on the most isolated place on earth is stepping up. She's shy and i'm not. So here's her Go Fund Me link. http://www.gofundme.com/6nmr5k. If anybody can help out her cause we'd all really appreciate it. Also if you want o give something to her i'm sure she has a PayPal address. Pm her. Really cool that's she's doing it. It's really hard to do anything from here. Kudos for her and especially her dad for making her dream a reality. 8) Thanks.

gofundme is for charity
This is very cool. When I read the first post I mis-read it and thought the gofundme was to help fund her trip. But that is for a charity drive. -- She'll be riding for Alzheimers research and the Hawaii Humane Society.

Just in case any body else missed that as I did.

I wish I had the disposable income to help the fund but I just don't right now. Even if the money went to help fund the trip itself, it would still be indirectly helping the charities anyway. The whole Hawaii-Alaska-Nola story sounds pretty awesome, too bad I can't be part of it. Maybe if I ever get my ET2 back from the dealer... Sigh emoticon

Thanks for posting Judy.
Yes, I have been too shy to post it here yet. I've also been consumed by Cannonball prep during pretty much all of my free time. It's hard work coordinating from halfway across the Pacific. Laughing emoticon

Just to clarify:
All money raised at the gofundme site will go to Alzheimer's research and the Hawaiian Humane society. I will not take a cent. Sorry if there was any confusion, I know people usually use that site to raise money for themselves or other people for things such as medical expenses, but it was the only way I could find to collect donations in a single spot for both groups.

I am so happy to see that my goal to raise $2000 has jumped from 40% complete to 66.25% complete in just a couple of days.

I have a few stickers, if you have donated and would like one, please PM me an address I can send it to and I will get it in the mail ASAP.

I would also like to thank Quasi-moto. He sold me his GT200, and has had to put up with me asking him questions about stuff, arranging with some guy neither of us knew to get the vin verified so that I can have Hawaii plates for the ride, and letting me leave it in his garage till May! Please give him some thumbs ups because he's a saint and I appreciate him so much!

Another person I really need to thank is glasseye. He tried very hard for months to help me find a scooter and we just either had bad timing with sellers or just plain bad luck. His constant scrounging of craigslist and calling local sellers and making appointments on my behalf was so very kind. He has been my Cannonball alum advice giving guru. Now I know that I must be batshit crazy to even be attempting this. Clown emoticon Laughing emoticon

Dad- and I know you're reading this even though you refuse to join MV, thank you for helping me and being my support driver. Next Cannonball, I'll be yours! 8)

My father, myself, and my husband will all be attending Amerivespa as well. I will find you in NOLA Bill. (To be perfectly honest, you are the reason I even thought I might be able to pull this off.)

I love the Team Hawaii graphic. That should be made into stickers or a poster. Maybe a tee shirt. I would wear one. Very well done.

And Yano, I am so pleased to see you in the large GT200 group with me and five others. I would like to see a GT win the thing.

The Scooter Cannonball Run is getting very real now. I am flying out of Jacksonville six weeks from today! Looking forward to meeting everyone in Stewart getting ready for the start.

Yeah, you came on. 8) Jim and i would like a sticker if you have any left over. W it's a good thing we have a lot of Gt 200's in our clan. She rides a 250. Their different so the guys have been showing her and her dad the differences. Hope a GT wins it also. I have 12 rabbits feet here(on bunnies) will give them all a rub prior to the race for the GT'S. Bill if you could do it from England (it's farther and your not even American ) it gives us hope. Were so isolated that doing stuff on the Mainland is hard. Thank you. 8) They don't call our sport teams the warriors for nothing. Laughing emoticon

I'll be flying to San Diego from Hawaii on 5/19 but my Dad will be arriving ahead of me, gathering last minute stuff, and picking up my spare wheel/tire on the way up to Stewart. The truck went to the shipping co. yesterday and should arrive in SD at the beginning of May. This is getting so real! Look forward to meeting everyone!

Cannonball is getting very real now for me as well. Did 500 miles on a scoot today and will do another 500 before I get back home on Thurs. Scoot is mostly prepped except for new tires due in any day now. My husband has decided to drive support for me since after breaking both legs last year because as he put it he doesn't want to worry from 3,000 miles away.

Looking forward to meeting those I haven't met before in Hyder.

Cannonball averages more like 370. My longest day on a scoot was 620 on the Scarabeo the day before I met up with Old as Dirt. Second longest was 580 on the Burgman when a bridge in west Texas was out forcing a rather long detour that put me into road construction - yuck.

Wow she's almost made her goal. Only needs $50 more. I know there's someone out there that can do it. Thanks so much everybody. Means a lot to us over here. So she took her dad to the airport yesterday. He's getting the truck and stuff ready for the trip. she leaves in about 2 weeks. It's getting closer. Good luck everyone and be careful. 8)

Your eyes never see the road the same again.

Or your bike.

Its overwhelming.

Best of luck Yano.

Even if the bike is set up and ready to go, it never hurts to have someone who knows what they are doing check it out.. A run up to LA and back would be a good way to feel out the scooter before you load it on a truck and head north.

I'll arrive in San Diego on Monday night, headed to Santa Clarita area on Friday or Saturday and will be leaving the area on Sunday at the latest.

Greasy- I have a spare wheel and tire up there that still needs to get mounted. Other than that I'm pretty set.

This is what our (tentative- we have a little flexibility built in) schedule is looking like:
5/23 Friday- leave San Diego area
Sat- in Santa Clarita CA
Sun- Santa Clarita CA
Mon- Red Bluff CA
Tue- Vancouver WA
Wed- Vancouver WA
Thur- Hope B.C.
Fri- Prince George B.C.
Sat- Smithers B.C.
Sun- Stewart B.C.
Mon- Stewart B.C.
Tue- Cannonball Starts!

I still have a ton of laundry to do. Have to figure out how to pack my clothes AND my riding gear in my luggage. Will be carrying my helmet onto the plane (that's not weird right?)

Perfectly normal, when I flew out last year to pick our Sports City up and bring it back to Texas from Fallbrook, CA Mine went on the plane with me. Everything else if they lose it can be more or less easily replaced but I'm picky about my helmet.

See you in Stewart.

Glasseye, I'm so sorry you won't be there. I was looking forward to meeting you, Gonzo and some of the others again.

Be flattered Yano.

Your scoot will not get better treatment, anywhere.

Are you going soft Greasy?

Props.

thank you for the kind words, mr. glass.

your skills with the wrench and at the mill are nothing to sneeze at; and on two wheels, i'll forever be in your mirror. your class, taste and decorum are second to none.

as for going soft... well, you can blame the heat... or the vodka... but mostly my midsection!

*laughs*

you know there's always rack time and cold ones waiting for you downtown!

I'll arrive in San Diego on Monday night, headed to Santa Clarita area on Friday or Saturday and will be leaving the area on Sunday at the latest.

Greasy- I have a spare wheel and tire up there that still needs to get mounted. Other than that I'm pretty set.
I'm about 20 or so miles south of santa clarita right off the 170 freeway, i'd be more than happy to mount up a tire while you wait on either friday or saturday.

my shop hours are 10~6ish, but i'm usually here late. in fact, i usually burn the midnite oil friday & sat nites. you're more than welcome to come by any time, drink a few cold ones and listen to me vividly curse while furiously swinging wrenches.

drop me a PM if you need anything.

best,

Thank you Rich,Glass and 175. You are truly some of the best people on the planet as well as everybody else on here who responded to her. I know how much this means to yano. All of us from Hawaii are proud of her and the people on MV for helping her. You are helping her dream come true. That generosity can never be repaid but if there is anything you all want or need I will do everything in my power to get it for you. God speed my friend. Inexpect lunches with the gang when you get back from the trip telling us your many stories of your journey.
