Got home a big box of vespa goodies just in time for easter, sort of a giant easter egg, let the candy flow

Box:
External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

Hmm, what could be in it?

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

Shall I cut the ribbon?

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

Seriously well packed by sip-scooter, not much risk of any transport damage

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

Well now, what do we have here?

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

Faco shield, lets see if it makes high speed cruising more comfortable without causing any side effects. Will get tested, 100 km tomorrow.

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

Stock saddle is both uncomfortable AND too short for me, lets see if this one will help

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory textExternal inline image provided by member with no explanatory text
External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

What is in here? Not Malossi parts, sip do not ship Malossi to Sweden unfortunately.

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

Well, usb for gps and phone can come in handy.

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

Some more stuff from the malossi box

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

Ahh, those brembos are quite tasty

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

Them brembos needs a bracket too

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

Two more boxes, not too hard to see what that is I think

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

But wait, all is not well! That bushing looks way off:

I have mailed pics to sip so a swift resolution should be possible, after the Easter weekend.

This stuff addresses what I do not particularly like about the vespa.

I am 188 cm or 6 foot 2 inches in funny money and I hope the shield and saddle do good things for me.

I will post reviews of most of these items once I have run them for a while just add to this superb forum.

Happy easter all and ride safe.

You are so right I was so surprised, fed ex had the estimated delivery on tuesday, next week. Also I was at home, so I did not have to go some delivery point and try to pick that up with the vespa.

Ok, I will drag my Full Frame monster with me when I assemble the screen, happening now. All I can say is that the faco instructions totally suck, none would have been better, I would not have had anything to get mad at.

All those shiny new parts and a sweet coffee maker to ensure popper caffeination through out the install.

Be sure to post before and after photos and report on changes in performance and ride.

Is that Faco shield mirrored or does the lighting in the pic just make it look that way?

Ha ha, yeah, coffe geek and beer geek I am but so far only saddle and faco screen installed.

No instructions with the faco screen, I was a bit bewildered at first but I put it together like this:

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

On the bike:

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

Quite big gap between screen and headlight:

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

The gap, should it be that big? i can almost get my pinkie in between, but I have large hands.

The screen was a little bit fiddly to align properly. Once I had it on, it was not even in terms of its "left to right" tilt, from above so to speak. But some mild body english with the metal brackets was all it took to straighten out.

The saddle, no pics from that but it is a saddle.

The "hump" on it is slightly further back than original, but not by much, maybe 2 cm tops. But it is more "comfy". Also, it is a lot lighter than the original.

Now, I am gonna suit up, fill her up, pump her up, so she is ready for 100ks tomorrow.

Happy easter.

Oh the screen is not mirrored, but it is quite dark, and shiny, but not mirrored. But I think it looks good, now I will see if works well too.

It is the "adapter" bracket to attach the brembo brake to the zelioni fork.

Now, me for a ride.

Quick review now after my first spin.

Faco screen:

Makes a big difference. I am 6''2 and the airstream hits me below my shoulders but above the top of my arm pits. Makes it much more effortless at all speeds of 70 and above.

No extra buffeting or noise for me.

Expected pluses, yes, much more effortless high speed cruising. Good looking too if that counts.

Feared negatives, no, no buffeting or increased noise.

Unexpected negatives, yes, two fold. The screen flaps about, the top of it, that is in my vision. Annoying, disturbing, but I think I can live with it. I think it is because that faco has flat brackets, and they are weak in the length direction of the bike.

Secondly, it DOES affect steering, it changes the whole feel of the bike. It feels like someone has a prolonged steering tube, in this case, the top of the screen, and moves the bike from side to side. Nothing huge, but you can feel it. And you can feel in your handebars that you "shoving" lots of air in front of you. It is also easier to provoke a short feeling of "wobble" which is more pronunced than without.

I can really see that with a topbox at the rear I would also be moaning about a wobbly gts 300. But, attach a big sail to the handlebars and you are changing the bike.

If I did not do long high speed cruises, over 30-40 km, I would not want a screen, but I do ride long distances so I think it stays. Crusing at a 90-100 km/h with the traffic on a 90 road is just SO effortless now.

Saddle.
Simple yes, for EVERYONE, I think.
Easier to ride sporty, easier to pretend you are Kevin Schwantz and lean into the corners. Much better feel when cornering, it is more "rounded" in the feel and easier to slide from side to side. The original is more "square" so to speak.
The vespa just feels better to corner with.

It seems to be more comfy too, but just rode 30 km so I will have to come back on that one. The material is more elastic, not so "dead" and foamy in the feel that the original is.

It is lower than the original seat too, not too low for me that is tallish.

Also, it is roomier for a tall driver.

There is not one bad thing to say about the saddle. Well, you loose the pillion seat but I can live with that.

Eh, not so short that, sorry for my written incontinence.

Very close to 2k in dollar.

I justified it with that all parts are functional, improve usability, turning, comfort and safety.

No pure luxury items I sort of told myself.

The saddle was a bargain, seems cheap in Europe and really changed the feel of the bike. Now it feels like a motorbike, not a chair with an engine so to speak.

keep the previous one in the garage because when you got a pillion passenger the sport seat is a hassle.

Yeah, I hear you.

But I no more make plans for stuff that may not happen. I gave up buying a one seater sports bike, v-twin, proper race bike, because of my gf. Bought a sports tourer, and then she did not like to ride. So, stuck with a bike that I bought for someone else.

Now, this is MY bike.

Thanks for the advice though, I will keep it at the attic, have no garage, live in apt. You never know.
