I recently bought a '79 px 125 and it has some dings and scrapes and needs body work and a paint job. Who would specialize in that in Washington state?

I took one of my scooters to SikWerks in Seattle. They specialize in motorcycles and scooters. They are not cheap but they are very good.

I was hoping Brent would see your post and tell you where he had his smallie done.
The bike is really first class and the paint is outstanding. C'mon Brent, you got a picture? ![]() |

Yes! an entire apprenticeship is centred around performing decent prep for paint. Brookokc, you don't need to go to a specialist for this kind of work, the only nightmare part of a scooter is the leg shields, because the repair is viewed from both sides, that and taking the time when doing any welding to prevent warping. The edging can be a bit of a pain because of the holes, but any modern panel beater would whip through a scooter job easy. Seriously do not do any of the panel beating yourself if you dont know what you're doing. There are so many ways to ruin a panel job from incorrectly working out creases and stretching it or cold working the metal too thin to diviting skim filler and having a wavy unflat surface for paint. Of course youll get a better job if you give it to a professional. For every incorrect ding you put into the metal trying to get it straight, it takes at least 3 times that to get out, so you see it doesn't make it any cheaper. The only real problem is getting someone who cares. Most panel work is insurance jobs. Fast easy money made from panel replacement or quick fix. Any half decent panel beater can get these thick steeled hulls straight for a coupled of hundred dollars. So fish around, someone will want to do it. They're so much nicer to work on than modern cars so it wont be hard to find an old codger or eager apprentice wholl do it for you. Either that or put a half inch of bog in it and make a sculpture, ride it for a bit till the next ding and it falls out on the ground. |

Im merely stating theres no need to seek a specialist restorer for scooter panel work. More power to him if he does his own work. But primo work just isnt summed up as Quote: Seriously. It's not that hard. Look enough whining from me @ brookokc Check this guy out if you want to do it yourself, he has mad skills |
