Modern Vespa

Hey MV,

I'm in a bit of a bind as I am a total "rube" when it comes to wiring. I got the premium topcase lighting kit from Scooter West and did all the case work. Now comes the tough part of threading it into the body, and the even tougher part of hard wiring.

I looked on the Wiki and did not find anything as a DIY. Can any help? Charles, are you out there? I know you did yours last year and we're practically neighbours. H-E-L-P

Is it similar to the Admore kit? I installed that a while back here:
Fitting Admore 42L top-case LED arrays.

You are very welcome! As you can see I was in much the same boat as you when I decided to fit the lights. Thanks to others on here I managed to get them sorted.

Well I did it! I actually managed to thread it through the right rear tail light. Only thing was that I had NO right rear light wire in the harness. That would've been the white with blue line in it. Called Admore Ligting. The owner answered. Holy cow - freaking awesome!!!!

Doug (owner), walked me through the process and suggested that I tap off the right rear light leads (white with blue line) and "voila" - everything works as it should. Awesome bit of kit. I didn't even have to cut up the plastic around the rear behind the gas cap as the module could snuggle through it.

Just reading your post now. Glad to see that you got it figured out! You might want to think about cutting that plastic. I remember there were a couple of people who had issues with the wires being pinched between the seat ant that plastic bit. This caused shorting.

Mine actually fit through the "ribs" without cutting. No pinches or crimping. Toughest thing was figuring out the wiring. How was your Winter riding with your Thermoscud? I remember you saying that you would give it a go. Such a terrible Winter.

We could have all put the module through the gap - but what happens if you want to change a shock, say? You'll have to cut the plastic then, or undo all the wiring to get the module back through.

Hadn't thought of that JimC. So far so good. I guess when I decide to change (and I should) the rears, I can do it then. Thanks again everyone.

I threaded mine through the grate and I had to top of the shocks off last year to drop the engine to check the valve clearance. I do not remember it being a problem. I might have just moved it along the wire towards the top box, but I think I would have remembered it being a problem.

Meh, who knows...
