I have a question to all you MP3 500cc. I just brought my 500 in for a 12,000 miles service and thankfully I redid the service maintenance for another 3 years which will save me a lot of money. The question is this have any of you that had the 12,000 miles checked up had the transmission go bad that they had to put a whole new transmission in it? So every 12,000 miles I have to get the transmission replace.

What do you mean by 'the whole transmission'? Belt and rollers get replaced - that's normal. The variator can get grooves worn in it if the scoot is ridden at WOT continuously - but every 12,000 miles? I think not. Likewise it's possible the clutch can need attention, but it's rare for anything there to need replacing, and not normally a consideration even after 30,000 miles or so.

At the 12,000 mile mark I saw no signs of components needing to be replaced. The belt (which was not worn out but replaced anyhow) and the rollers and variator clips were the only things I replaced.

Now I have a 250 so our service schedules aren't the same, but my point is only regularly scheduled items were replaced.

Transmission
When I get the bill I will tell you they replace. It might be that about 3 months ago or so I took the bike up on a gravel road and it couldn't not go any further so I try to increase the throttle on the bike and then it started to smoke so I might of smoked something in the tranny. It must not be bad because the part is only costing me $200.00 to replace the part. The reason it couldn't go up the gravel slope was the back tire was bald. I will post as soon as I get it back.

Tbh I would want to know what they are replacing for that money , at that mileage nothing should be wrong apart from serviceable items , belt rollers etc... As the other chaps have said
