I took a long ride on the GTS300 on Saturday from the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney through northern Sydney and along the famous Putty road run to the Grey Gum cafe - the weather was perfect - sunny and clear skies with temperatures in the low to mid 20's (Celsius). Since it was the Easter long weekend the NSW Police have double demerits for speeding, seatbelt (cars only !) and helmet offences. Since I sometimes ride with a Euro helmet without Australian standards stickers I thought it best to ride with an Aussie helmet instead for this weekend (double demerits simply means that all points penalties on your licence are double over Easter).

When riding back from the Putty road and across to Bell via Bells Line of Road I was overtaken by a Suzuki going at least 40km over the limit who crossed 2 double solid lines on a blind corner just missing a car coming around the corner. It was a scary moment since I didn't expect being overtaken in that situation and hadn't seen the bike in my mirrors. The rider then waited a couple of moments and overtook another car in front in a similar situation (crossing double solid white lines and greatly over the speed limit). As is usual in this type of situation for some ridiculous reason I felt like I had to speed up to catch him - this feeling soon passed - thank God and I continued to enjoy my Easter ride. Only 10 minutes later I saw the Suzuki pulled over by a police rider who was issuing him with a ticket - loath as I am to enjoy such a moment I felt a twinge of schadenfreude pass over me and continued my rider to Bell (and then onto Mount Victoria and down to Wentworth Falls and the Grand View Hotel) to enjoy a well earned Guinness with friends and with my riding points still intact.

After catching up with friends that night and a beautiful bushwalk near Mount Cook the following day and down to Huntley Vale and the Comet Inn for lunch I rode back to Sydney late on Easter Sunday after completing 600km on the scooter, a 25 km bushwalk, a delicious pint of Guinness, a brace of lamb shanks and a huge dose of schadenfreude in my gut...

Great weekend - hope all are well

It was great riding here too. Marred by only one arse hole, trying to pass me up on a right turn.

I was following my BF in our car, When a guy in a red corvette decided he wanted to be in front of me. As we made a right turn on busy street, he tried to overtake me and swing in ahead of me as I was turning!!??? (Who does this?)

I hit my horn and tightented my turn, coming in towards the curb and hit the gas, kinda squirting away from his front end. But I actually thought my next step might be to kick his car, he was that close to me.

After that, he eventually got past me and tore off only to stop at a gas station a block away.

I was also tempted to pull over and give him a few words, but I let it go. It was a lovely weekend and a lovely day and no sense in wasting any energy on someone so rude and dangerous.

You learn to let go of bad feelings quickly when you ride 2 wheels. Glad you had a great day too!

yes this weekend, especially Sunday was great to ride. Traffic was light, weather great and I do not think I had one person do something jerky, which may be a record. Also saw a fair number of scooter riders out which is something I don't usually see. All were friendly and waved. Even a few of the motorcycle riders waved. All in all a nice day.
