This may be a dumb question, but every once in a while it pops in my head....Does anyone use the kickstand on your mp3? Is there a reason to use it? I never use it, but yet there it is. It must be there for a reason...Am I missing something?

Very useful for changing rear tyre, oil, and other maintenance. Also useful if you're away for a few weeks, and don't want to leave the suspension locks under pressure.
Day to day? Hardly ever use it. |

Before I rode off with the parking brake engaged the only time I used the center stand was for maintenance or if I planned to park the scoot for more than a week.
Since I fried the pads (and haven't readjusted them yet) it is on the center stand with the tilt lock on every time I park. Really need to get this fixed. ⚠️ Last edited by stickyfrog on UTC; edited 1 time

I put my MP3s on the centerstand any time I'm not going to be riding them every day with the front end locked upright. That way there is little pressure on the lock system and I don't ever have to worry about the system disengaging. Then when I take the MP3 off the centerstand it stays upright and it's a piece of cake. Even if I don't get the front end perfectly verticle it doesn't matter.

I use it pretty much all the time. I trust it more than the tilt lock.
About a year after I bought my scooter, (warranty expired before I got it) I went away for a few days while the tilt lock was engaged. I came back to the horn honking on startup and a VERY mushy front end. I was lucky it didn't fall over. The problem is the seals in the tilt lock. Now, since I know there is an issue, I always use the stand unless it's just a quick run into a store. It just becomes habit to put it up on the stand, apply pressure to the seat sensor until the light on the dash goes off, then release the tilt lock to take all pressure off the system. It's not a dumb question...Thanks for throwing it out there. Steve H/B |

old as dirt wrote: they put them on just for looks. (And yes, I have scraped my center stand, even with a 150/70 tire. It really freaked me out the first time it happened, until I figured out what was going on...) |
