Hi All,
A super is for sale near me and photo shows an unusual floor seam near the stand bolts. Does anyone know if this is typical of a floor that's been replaced? The stand looks a bit weird too.
Cheers

I would not buy this
The leg shields look good but it looks like its spent a lot of time outside before the owner decided to wax the good paint.
It doesnt look like the original paint at all more like a bad rattle can paint over the repair area and rust coming through on those areas too. The frame has been badly reinforced to either hide a rusty patch or where it flexes on the frame or both. Switch missing as well. (does the speedo work?) Youll spend easy 700+ on the frame getting it to look nice and thats before looking into the engine. Steer clear and go for something more intact. Save more unless you can weld and dont mind spending some money on sand blasting and paint. This will be a 3 month resto at least |

It certainly has a bit of extra metal in there but doesn't look tooo bad. I know what you mean about projects not coming up often and taking advice from well-meaning people from places where they are cheap and plentiful might mean you miss out on something in your price range for the next year or two.
You'd need to see it in person to make a decision about how solid it is... I reckon it's worth a look. The frame number looks like it's been done afterwards. |

what is up with that frame number?
Ginch is right, your going to have to see it first hand and make a D for yourself.
This maybe a rarity for you and might be worth the drive for ya. Overall anything is restorable and i wish you the best of luck... But without harping on like a pain in the arse... What im seeing is (without actually seeing it): That number photo shows orange peel paint. The plus is hopefully its single pack paint and will rub off using MEK to show the real paint underneath. The reinforcing is in the same area ive seen a few times now, usually hiding rust holes after frame has been flexing from the stand. (but i havnet seen this bike so it may not be that) The floor looks straight,(incl edges) but where are the old holes from the original floor runners?? Floors bogged? Fuel filter, flywheel nut, front rim/hub and other exposed steel parts are very corroded (consider some of these were tin/zinc plated), imo more in keeping with what it may actually be like underneath the paint. Check that photo of the engine, just forward, there is bubbling rust coming through the paint. All up its no biggie i suppose, but your going to have to use money, effort and time, just to see whats really underneath covered up areas. Usually a good buy has all the patina and dents exposed and its up to you to polish it up or strip it back and remove what rust is usually obviously there. You have to buy this one before you get it to that state. ok ill shut up now, but im interested in what you think once youve seen it dude |

It shall remain an enigma
As it turns out I won't be able to go see it before the auction ends. Ive had a shitty last 24 hours and it seems everything is conspiring against me seeing it. It's a long story, wife's taken car across town to see her sister for a couple days, I've locked myself out of my own house and had to sleep at a mates place last night, and now have a long day at work ahead of me prior to the long weekend.
But the numbered stamping is from the engine side. I'm guessing it has a normal frame number under the left cowl. |

I know the earlier ones were on the left. |
