Hello All,

I am new to the Forum and signed up to seek some help from someone more experienced than me with the nitty gritty of Vespa parts.

A few mopeds in my area have been vandalized and so I had a look at my ET2 Vespa to check it is alright and saw that the oil and fuel pipes are in a different position than usual.

Is that device I hold in my hand (please see pics attached) misplaced or moved?

Thanks a lot!
Alessandro

It actually starts but I guess it would stop shortly after. i didnt try anyway for fear of damaging it. I havent noticed any dispersion of fuel beneath the vespa but perhaps it just evaporated,

Thanks for the feedback anyway, i will have it checked.

That is most definitely your fuel tap as has been already mentioned. The bottom hose is the vacuum line and the side one is your fuel line. Fuel line runs to the carb, vacuum line should run to the manifold between the carb and the cylinder head. I hope there is no other damage and you get it back on the road soon.

What I'm saying is I think they drained your tank.

You'll have enough fuel in the line to the carb or fuel injector to start the bike, but it'll run up the rpm very soon as it runs leaner and leaner as it burns out the little bit of fuel left in the line.

If that's the case of course, which I think it is.

As the previous posters said, this is your fuel tap. You will find a hole at the bottom right front corner of your fuel tank (oriented from the riding position on the scoot). Below is a photo of how the tap looks installed. The long part with the filter screen goes up into the tank. There is a clamp on the tank (yellow arrow in the photo) that you will want to loosen before inserting the fuel tap. Tighten the clamp when you have the fuel tap firmly in place. Refill your tank, and ride (assuming they didn't do any other damage to your scoot).

Just thinking, the moped was previously vandalized mainly by breaking the steering lock. This time it looks there was a step uo in the sabotage. Does it take time/particular effort to do such a thing? I'm trying to understand the way this person acts.

Of course police will repeat there is no CCTV and that nothing can be done, so I guess i will just park it a couple of roads away and cross my fingers.

Legally, in Europe, a 50cc scooter is just a moped -- even if it is a Vespa.

This kind of damage could be inflicted in a matter of seconds. The vandal probably just reached up under the right side cowl, grabbed the fuel tap and pulled it out of the fuel tank.

Aloha and welcome to the forum form Hawaii. Wow you guys really have a theft problem when it comes to scooters over there. I hate people who steal. Sorry it had to happen. Cool that you have a ET2. Fabio Dougie on this forum is the ET2 guru. He lives in the UK as well. Be careful know that the thieves know where your scooter is. They call everything a moped here that's small and step thru. Even if it's plated. I don't get upset. If i did i'd be pissed all the time. Laughing emoticon Would love to see pics of your scooter if you have a minute. Ride safe.
