Hi, I'm new here. I have a 200 GT, with 900 miles and yesterday ride to work was fine. At end of the day, the electric starter turned good but did not engage the motor. The battery has plenty of juice and the starter turned good just with a free wheel kind of noise. Does anyone have an idea of the possible causes.
Thank you
Alfredo

That's the classic symptom of the "Bendix" (or pinion for the Europeans) gear failing to engage the ring gear on the driving pulley. Very common on the LEADER-series engines.

It can occur because the Bendix assembly is sticky or dirty, or because the battery is weak, or both. Cleaning the assembly has been discussed here many times, and the procedure is pretty simple. Search on "sticky bendix" in the forum search, and you should find ample discussion.
