I'm a newbe here and just picked some old Vespas. Don't know what I have and could use some help. I got the lot for $100.00 and not sure where to go from here. Any help or info would be great thanks.
Heres some pictures.

You might want to post in the Not So Modern section, I am sure someone can help you out there!
Or ask a moderator to just move this whole thread there. Good luck! |

Since you only have $100 invested, I would say there is money to be made in making them decoration for stores and bars 'n such.

For $100 you did alright. What are your plans for all those parts - are you going to sell some, fix up one or two? Let us know here first.

That's a pretty great haul for 100 bucks. The VBB and P have a few interchangeable items. The P frame looks rough. The Smallframe looks pretty good. Scooterhelp will help you identify parts. Each engine will have a serial number on the swingarm. You would be best to pick one project to build and sell the rest, or keep it all and build one at a time. Alot of the parts you have are junk but if the frames are solid you can make them go again. I would start with the smallie. From the pics it seems to be the nicest looking body. Next is to identify all its parts. It's engine and fork. Bag and tag everything. Get a few books on restoring Vespas. Post more photos specific to the information you need. It's a long road but an expensive one...

That's the most expensive $100 you'll ever spend! Lol, (if you're thinking of building 3 scooters).
Off the top of my head if the P engine is a 200cc, I'd be looking at putting it in the VBB if you were wanting a project. If you are looking for return on investment, just sell the parts item by item. You might gather the smallframe stuff together and sell as a project. |

I like the small frame motor.. a little rebuild (hopefully nothing's ka-put inside) and used or sold as a nice running motor.. Looks like a V90 I think.. do you have the engine side door?

Don't give him any ideas, I want that P motor if it is a 200. This is really crazy though. I look around for six months to find one project at more than four times the cost of this, and this guy picks up three for a lousy $100. It ain't fair, I tell ya...... Just kidding faster47, good luck.

bigger picture,
Now that I'm off the mobile and can see better, I don't see the P motor
From the pics every thing is looking pretty rough. You could build the VBB and the smallframe, but you will be in for some heavy repair work. If you have the skills and or the money and are into the challenge, go for it. You will spend way more than the bikes are worth so it'll be a labor of love. Or sell the parts off and use the money for a more choice project. There's some stuff in there you could use if you knew what you were going to be building. Actually you might want to hang on to the VBB stuff and find another project bike and make one good one from the two. Same could be said for the smallframe. I just don't see one project worth starting there. My 2 cents. |

Thats a great buy, theres plenty to think about considering the very decent state of both old frames. Get a bunch of cable ties and main engine bolts and maybe loose fit the bikes together and see what youve got. If theres enough there you maybe able to sell the bikes and make enough off the pile to get you most of a way to a decent runner. Orrrr get one of them most of the way to looking decent at least. I like the VBB
Did you get the px motor too? that bike looks a bit sparce. Maybe make it into a Bel and Bel style chair? |

If you are looking to make some dough, you definitely have more than $100 worth of parts there... you could do very well selling it off in bits and pieces.
If you are looking to get to the "riding down the road on my Vespa" stage I would suggest selling off all of the pieces and buying a running scoot |

When I started as a clueless newbie I at least had one completely assembled scooter and a Haynes manual. I think your best bet might be to try and trade for an assembled, possibly even running, scooter. Frankly, I'd want all that and a little cash in trade for a presentable runner.
There is a lot of stuff there to figure out and not a lot of clues to do it with. Cable and wire routing is neither intuitive nor illustrated clearly in any books. Both engines look to be in need of at least a re-bore of the cylinder. The head-set on the Super has been completely disassembled and there are some small, weird parts in there. If you have trusted help available locally it's save-able, but if I had trusted help available locally, I wouldn't be asking for help on a forum. As a couple of other folks have said, you certainly have more than $100 worth of parts there, so that's in your favor. |

interesting pile of stuff. I would not have been able to resist that either - good thing I didn't have the chance.
I'd build the blue but that's just 'cause I don't know jack about the "smallies" (had to put in quotes to keep autocorrect from changing it to smalls) |
