Pisses me off that to wave a George Cross or dare to celebrate being English always leads to the inevitable racism crap.

I celebrate on the Eastern Orthodox calendar, so I'll reserve the festivities until May 6th.
In all seriousness, St. George was born within walking distance of my company's headquarters (and Israel's main international airport) in Lod (Lydda, back in his day). Judging by the number of flags you see here every year, I'd say he's still considered a pretty big deal by the locals.

We just had a nun who was granted Saint status. St Marianne. She's from NY and has the same b'day as Jimbo and i. Patron Saint of outcasts. She worked with Father Damian over on the leper colony here. Now if we could only get it recognized as a holiday that would be cool.

What have I done...
All of my family PROUDLY celebrate St Georges Day, always have, always will. I am proud of my country, its heritage, its language, its beautiful countryside and many many other things. I just wanted to send you guys a happy message just like I did at Christmas and (for some of you) on your birthdays. Im not a racist. I am a Vespa riding, 30 something, balding Englishman, and I just wanted all you good English folk to wish each other a nice day. Sorry if I have upset any of you
