Does anyone know exactly how many bulbs one has to replace in the LX Dash/headset when converting to LEDs? i've searched on MV and watched the how to vid on Scooterwest's site(was for S150) but i'm still not clear on the actual # of bulbs that can be converted to LED. grommitdaddy and motoroko's posts do not specify either.. also, is it best to use 'green' led for turn indicators, 'amber' for the warning lights, etc

Thanks in advance

I've done the conversion on our LX 150. I do recommend replacing the bulbs with the actual colour of the lens. Led's appear washed out when a white bulb is placed behind a coloured lens. But thats only for appearance. The bulbs will function just fine with white, and you will be able to see that they are on during daytime.

As to the number I can check tonight at home as the headset is still apart. I think there are 2 turn indicator lights, 3 (maybe 4) back lights for the gauges, and the 4 warning lights. For a total of 9-10. I can double check later tonight.

There are four main ones, plus the indicators. I would not change the indicator s for the LEDs as they will be off their true color (green will be bluish, red will be purple etc). Hope this helps. Dan

thanks for the replies; it looks like there should be 9 bulbs in total to replace based on the manual. I'll report back in a week or 2 when i order and install the bulbs.

I've run out of amber bulbs but will have more soon for another project. Let me know what it will cost to buy the bulbs you need. I think I got mine for a great deal and I'd like to compare prices if I could.

I have just generic ones...worked fine for nearly one season. Of course, they are not as fancy as Scooterwest's and were free!

Bringing this topic alive...

1 - So the warning bulbs are not just white ones and they are coloured?

2 - You didn't mention the bulb type for them. I did a quick search and found this: "T4.7 T5 Dashboard LED Bulb".

Is that correct?

The factory fitted bulbs are all white. I can recommend fitting LED bulbs, I replaced all the dash bulbs in the speedo of my 2013 GTS and the light intensity is a lot brighter. Try to get the correct colour bulbs for the different lenses, as great lake roller mentions, white LED's behind a coloured lens give a washed-out appearance.

I don't know the size or quantity you need for the LX. On my GTS, I needed 2 green (indicators), 1 red (low oil pressure), 2 orange/yellow (CEL and low fuel), 1 blue (high beam) and 4 white (speedo background). Try to get quality bulbs, cheap ones have a tendancy to blow regularly and you don't want to keep on opening-up your headset to replace them.

I finally took apart the bike to see how hard it was to replace the cluster bulbs and see how it looked.

On my 2006 LX 150, I can confirm there are 9 bulbs, which corresponds to what the manual says. I took a picture of the back (mirrored so it matches what you see on the front) and the front.

1. Anyone know the LED bulb types and recommendations where to get them?

2. Are there specific wattages like the OEM bulbs?

3. Related to the above, do you replace all 9 with the same wattage? Or the 3 that are 1.2W with something lower?

I poked around some more and seems these bulbs are called 74 type for the most part, but I did also find them under T5.

There's another post on the forum somebody who bought these.
