...give a skilled rider on a scooter a curvy track and he/she can hang with the cc abundant. I suspect the Mio may be kitted but this is still some impressive riding. The only place the bikes can really close on him is in the short straight in front of the stands.

Funny to me because I easily kept up with sport bike riders in the hills above Los Gatos. Unless it was a straightaway, then I was of course dropped.
It really surprised me as well. Gotta love a Vespa! |

Those other bike were not 1000cc or they had throttle limiters because they should have be going much faster in the straights than they were. They should have been walking/running away from the scoot in the straights. I bet the bikes are 250's

thank s so much for this video. My work mates both ride Victory 1700cc bikes. They love to poke fun at me. They sent me a little picture that shows a scooter on the top of the page with the words. "I get 75 MPG, what do you get!" The bottom of the picture shows a sports bike with the word above it that says "Laid!"
They think they are quite funny. This video shall be my triumph! |

My last track car was an '08 Shelby GT500 that was putting 598 hp to the rear wheels. It had all the appropriate suspension and braking upgrades but was a complete handful trying to get a drive out of corners that I had previously had to severally brake for due to speed and the weight of the car. On a short tight track I had trouble getting around and away from Miatas. One of the tracks I ran, my top speed was 147 mph and my brakes and tires would last 8 days doing five 30 minute enduros a day. I took the car to Road America which is a much longer track and could pass about anything on the track and my top speed increased to 168 mph, but I was cording my front tires and smoking my brakes on a daily basis. Weight and power are a hindrance on a tight track. It takes longer to slow down and it's harder to get a good drive out of corners when you're dealing with extreme hp and mass. The video doesn't surprise me, especially if you have a well tuned scoot. I've pretty much done the same thing when riding with a friends Harley contingency. I can run off and hide from them on my gts on curvy backroads.

Love this video. I showed a couple of people at work. Just the motorcycle riders who like to tease me.

I like it too - but it's obviously an instructor going out with a novice group to show them the ropes.
One of the guys at Brands Hatch did similar on a 125 dirt bike on my first track day. No knees-down from him either. |
