I don't understand it.. but it reminded me of some blue prints for a torsion catapult I once built!

I'm sure it makes a very nice lift PX!

I'm no engineer, but you'd want to make sure the member capping the top of the gas lift was pretty strong, as the proportion of the lifting arm and fulcrum point puts a large load on it.....

I wonder if the pivot point would be better at the diagonal braces?
