After something more than a year, I finally have my "o5 GT200L with a Cozy Sidecar operational and running with no shimmy or head wobble, running straight down the road without pulling to the right or left, and with a comfortable cruise speed of 45 to 50 mph.
It was a long haul getting there, but absolutely necessary with my advancing age and loss of physical strength to pick up a solo bike in the event of a tip over. The GT200 weighs over three hundred pounds.
It sure lacks the enjoyment of a solo bike, but is a helluva lot better than no bike at all. The gas mileage sure still beats the hell out of my Ford Explorer.
Right hand turns are kind of spooky at any speed at all. Kind of feels like the sidecar is going to lift off the ground and dump you off in the rosd. I can see it's going to take a lot of getting used to.
The steerinmg damper mounted on the right hand side that I finally developed and got perfected is the savior of the whole project. Without it, the vicious head wobble was totally uncontrollable.
The next project is to get sidecar hub made that is capable of accepting a MV wheel so that I can carry one spare wheel that fits all.
