Don't forget the beef stew. It's completely harmless. It is used by professionals to keep dogs out of sandboxes.
I totally missed this the first time through. It's definitely worth a look.

Bitza, I'm not sure about the ultrasonic alarms. I totally understand seeing red when the neighbor dog is leaving deposits on your front porch to step in; I think I understand it being the only way to respond.

look its the owner not the dog ... take it up with them .... i was thinking of stuff that would deter the dog without harming it ... owners should take responsibility ... my neighbour couldnt be bothered walking 2mins up the road to a field ... the dog would have loved it ... so i had a go at the neighbour not the dog ....
talk to them calmly a couple of times then explode ... worked for me ... then lass at the other side took a different action and phoned the land lord and had them evicted a month later

+1. Could not have said it better. Great dogs. Shitty dog owners.

I totally agree with it being the dog owners responsibility. Unfortunately they aren't as agreeable. I'm going to try some of the suggestions and along with providing poop bags. I guess if I follow the explosion plan I'll have to have a couple of more chats with them before the fireworks.
