I live in Merida Mexico and we have no dealer here. I bought a GTS300 at a department store. They set up service at another brand scooter dealer so when I went in for my 600 mile service I kinda figured they knew what to do. Went to eat lunch while waiting for the service and when I returned they had already changed the oil but used a regular 20w50 oil, non-synthetic. I have an extra Malossi filter. I'm going to do another oil change myself with correct oil but is there any worry about the residual oil?
Nope, no worries at all about residual oil. Good call to replace it though. Non-synthetic oil may be OK for short term topping up, but I would never use it on purpose.
Not really - just change out when it's convenient. Don't fuss too much about any of the old oil left in there - it won't do any harm, just doesn't do 'the good' that the specified stuff does.
