Modern Vespa

Picked up this sweet old bowling ball bag from a thrift shop for $12 and thought it'd make a cool vintage looking top box alternative.

A few bucks in hardware to keep it put behind me, and here we have it...

Thoughts? Comments? Questions??

Interesting. I'd have considered (and you may have done too - ) laying it more horizontally, so the zipper opening was more conventionally orientated.

I'd not want my 'stuff' spilling on the ground.

Valid point Jim, just took my maiden voyage with it packed full of groceries - 10 miles and 0 issues. FWIW

It's a neat 'bag'. Looks good as it is, and would look good laying down too.

As it's now fixed and works - well done, I like it.

FYI - there is a nice, stiff board built inside and attached to the bottom, giving a very nice anchor point... hence mounting like I did.

I suppose if you cut a board to fit inside the seam of one side, you could mount it down like you suggest.

Taking the "old bag " for a ride does not mean that....

It's kind of growing on me. And I like the price.

FWIW. If you don't plan on removing it regularly, you might want to remove the handles. There's a lot of idiots out there that might feel the need to yank on them

A lady member of the Scarabs in Phoenix (may they rest in peace) used a bowling ball bag and an old suitcase alternately on her P/Stella/Cheetak (can't remember which).

As a recovering bowler I approve!

I believe it was Sandy, and it was on her Chetak. Last I heard of that bike, DDD had been re-shaping the rear fenders to make it sleeker.

To the OP, I like your storage solution. Way to think out of the (top)box.

I like it how it is, it looks like a bowling bag. Flat would like a soft shell top box in my opinion.

I like it upright too - looks much better. Very creative and très chic.
