After 8 years here moving to a new hobby means a new forum. Holy shit batman, having often been the first to complain, this place is SO much easier to deal with. Not the people, just how it all works.
May I have a Pedelec Forum please!

I rode an electric bike for years before I got into scooters. They changed laws in Texas in 2009 to make my electric bike into a scooter that required registration, insurance, and inspection. That's what made me decide to get a gas scooter, then later a Vespa.
I'll add my name to the list of users requesting a pedelec forum. |

Had an Ego LX @ 1000 watts. Used it as a daily commuter to work for several years. Topped out at 22 mph, but no peddling required. Would have stayed with it if they had not changed the law. Once I was required to pass the safety test on a gas scooter, and had to meet all the requirements for motorcycles, it was easy to decide to expand my range by going gas.
I think they don't make them (ego) anymore, but it was a good scooter. You should be able to find a 1000 watt electric that meets your needs for errands or whatever. |

I've sought out other forums that align with some of the other interested I have. They're rough. The format, the ads, the fees..
Many general interweb searches I make when inquiring about something specific often take me to some forum or another. A bit of browsing and I'm gone. How about we encourage MV to put a tab of your choice somewhere on the forum. One stop shopping |

This topic could be it, by itself. The Donks seem to get by with their own topics (self-imposed limit of 100 pages...).
I can't see a separate section happening unless Jess gets a pedelec himself. |

Hey tomjasz, you don't need a specific forum as long as you can get folks to search for the right term!

probably the worst paint shop ever, but I gave it a go (and it was the first time I have ever done it)

It really was more lament and tongue in cheek than actual request. Knowing clearly that as Jim pointed out, there are only two ways such a thing would happen. Jess gets into them and/or there was sufficient voice among current active posters.
My single attempt at a thread weeks back was a miserable failure. No interest, no thread. |

How is it enforced? There are all sorts of motors that are 200w rated but can be "fixed" or hacked.

I'd be very surprised if many police outside of traffic officers knew what the limit is, so the short answer is that it isn't enforced much at all. That said the majority of electric bikes on sale will comply, and they are mostly ridden by the elderly so wouldn't get a second glance by the police. Unless you are doing 30mph you'll be unlikely to get pulled over and questioned.

Mostly by the elderly! Who will be buying the BMW, Audi, and VW versions? Here the youngsters are building 50MPH bikes and no one wants one that won't at least do 30. My very mild mid drive built for the 'Merkin market un tweaked does 20+. I expect the new 750W I'm building will easily run 35. But it'll be The Lovelies ride and stepped down to a max of 20. But ith lots of power for uphill runs.

Ah, over here you can ride low powered electric bikes without a license. If you have a motorbike license then it's open season
