I'm a GTS owner who just bought a 2007 MP3 250. Love it except for the seat, which feels confining, unsupportive and squishy.

I have quite short legs and had Pirate lower my GTS seat, which has served me well. Thinking about the same for the MP3, but I already feel that my knees are (less comfortably) higher on the MP3. I'm concerned that a lower seat may exacerbate the issue. Comparing pictures of myself astride both bikes, I don't see the same thing I'm feeling, so it may be the contour of the seat that makes the riding position less comfortable.

Any thoughts from those who have lowered their seats?

You can shave off the sides of the foam rather than lowering - and footpegs work a treat for leg comfort.

+1. Stop thinking about leg (or foot) height and instead in terms of leg extension (or lack thereof), the actual root cause of discomfort on an MP3. The peg solutions you'll see on this forum don't necesarilly put your feet any lower; they put them out forward, solving the bent knee problem.

Another consideration: while jimc's point on shaving the seat's sides will indeed help with the ability of the vertically challenged to flatfoot it (because your limited resources will then be busy going more down and less sideways), it still won't solve and in many ways will further aggrevate the tendency to slip down the forward slope of the stock MP3 set. The solution to that is either putting in a pocket for your butt to stay stuck inside of (either by digging material out of the center of the seat - limited by the design of the seatpan underneath - or to pile material around the sides) - which results in the opposite effect jim is suggesting - or footpegs.
