Perhaps some of you gurus can figure out but I need help identifying a "P200E" that I recently purchased on Craigslist.
The chasi shows VSX1T * 154* but scooterhelp shows nothing.... I cross referenced to another website which shows as being a 1977 (s/n starting from 100 to 1700 here is the link:

http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/vespa-vin.html

The engine is a 200cc but again I can't find it on scooterhelp because it starts with some letters and one of the letters particularly is different:
VST1M 0089682

The scooter is clearly a P200E because is identical to my other P200 but I can not find any reference for the engine. Would you please help?

there are some letters on the engine swing arm that says M16773O M. This scooter is flat back now but I found traces of blue and tiny traces of olive green paint.

The scooter still has the silver and black sticker on the steering columnn that shows 1977 but there are 3 coats of paint(black, blue and tiny traces of olive green). Everything seems to point to be a 1977 but the fact that I can't easily find it on scooterhelp bother/worries me.

Are you sure you're reading the third letter correctly?

VSE1M would make it a 1980 P200E engine.

Sweet, my first bike is still kicking around, I recognize that (very low) frame number. Discussed a while back over here. Anyway, the frame is a US market 1977, for whatever that's worth.

It was originally silver/grey with some blue stripes on the cowls but was painted green in '89. I'm sure the motor has been swapped out from when I sold it. Anyway, the original engine cases for that bike are long gone, they got separated (and new cases swapped in) after some early reed valve experiments involving JB weld and... well I'd rather not go there.
