Hello all,

I'm fixing up a p125 for a friend, and I just wanted to do a reality check before I start prying or taking a hammer to this jammed throttle.

In the attached pictures, from the looks of it, the bike fell on its right side and jammed the throttle into that cavity. The plastic "stopper" is what I infer this from.

I was going to use a wooden punch and hammer to knock it back into position, being careful about the plastic parts. Let me know if I'm way off-base here, as I couldn't find any pictures of this assembly in the service manual.

Thanks!

It probably won't hurt to try, but the tube may be kinked up in the inside. It is easily replaceable though.

Thank you for your reply! If gave me the confidence to hammer the tube out using a block of wood as a cushion.

It was rusted solidly to the headset before I freed it- the picture shows it is still straight though. I was about to pick one up on ebay for $10, but I didn't have to! I just sanded it a bit and put some cable lube on it, as well as the (also rusted) cable. Probably the best that throttle has worked for years.

That set in motion all the routine stuff to wake it up from a 6 year nap and take it for a spin around the neighborhood.

Take the tube out again. Put it in vertically in the jaws of a vice and hammer it with a copper mallet so the distorted portion of the flange moves in the direction of the blue arrow. It's good when the flange is flat all around and even with the section in the green triangle.
