Hello All- I am mechanically inept and am looking for ideas before I call a tow truck. I went to take my GTS out of storage and although all battery-dependent things work when I turn the key- the scoot will not start. No click, nothing once the key is fully engaged.

The battery and fuses are all fine. Any suggestions on what I should check before turning over to the pros?

Many thanks.

when you say the battery is fine, have you actually tested it to make sure it's fully charged?

Check your battery connections. Like genie says, use a multimeter and make sure you have 12 volts. If you do, check your terminals to see if they came loose. If these are good, look at your wiring. There's a chance a critter got in there during the winter and chewed the insulation or even right through the wire.

Aside from the excellent advice above, have you checked the kill switch? Also check if the brake lights come on when you hold the brake lever, just to make sure your brake light switch has not died in storage.

Good luck and I hope it's an easy fix.

Where ya been girl friend? Glad to see you back on. Did you tender the battery and how long did it stay in the shed? I'd get a battery tender and see if it'll charge. I'm thinking you need a new battery. If it wasn't tendered and you haven't ridden much it might be dead. You'll have enough juice for the lights etc but not to start. Good luck and don't be a stranger around here.

As others have said, kill-switch. Also, would it be unforgivably obvious to say.. gas?

If it is not turning over and the red kill switch is in the proper position, it is most likely your battery. I would tighten it to the terminals if that does not work have it tested or if you have a tender try to charge it.

LOL- yes checked both kill switch and gas before posting (that would have been embarrassing- but easy to solve!)

Looks like battery is fully charged - a friend looked at it and thinks a switch may be corroded. I will repost back.

Thanks everyone.

You've not told us if the brake lights work. If they don't light up you'll not get it started.
