Chelsea (and crew) at Scoot Richmond --- I ride 130 miles for one of her smiles.
Mind you, the place I bought my first Vespa is nowhere near the same class.

It's the mechanic
My dealer has been great to me at the front end of the store. Maybe because of commission? Don't know. But, they've always gone out of their way to answer my questions and deliver my scoots as promised.
As far as the back side of building, different story. Besides questioning the cost of a general service, one of their mechanics cost me a couple of hundred $ because he was in a hurry just to change a friggin tire . Of course they denied such. Yes, I trust the sales staff. The mechanics suck. Check my original post.... Wheel mounting bolt torque |

I love my dealer. Vespa Toronto West. they are not only a reliable and fair dealer, but reasonably priced in my opinion, which is why I am so conflicted. the 28km commute to get there is pleasant enough but I would be so much happier if he were mid-town.
My other option is to go Corsa Mecanica. They are a lot closer and about $20 more for an oil service. the crew know their stuff there too but they also sell Aprilla and Moto-Guzzi, meaning that Vespa is not their only business. To NoelGrey, I do not wish to offend by hijacking the OP, so if you feel inclined, please let me know and I will delete my post. -JP |

Problem you see a lot now in powersports is that a lot of franchises are owned by corporations, and every aspect of the business becomes a profit center, there is a process to every interaction with the buying public, and the goal is to make as much money as they possibly can from every transaction. If you read through this thread, you see a pattern emerge that the dealers who are well thought of are, as a general rule, enthusiasts first, and dealers second. It's the ones who want to get in the scooter game because they see them everywhere that tend to give the business a bad name.

No one is perfect. Neither riders or dealers.
We are fortunate enough in San Diego to have Motorsports (Vespa Motorsports) and for my money (and it usually is) they are simply wonderful. And, while I have no personal experience with VSO, at least from what I read here, they do a great job. So, yes, I trust my dealer. I expect that if one looked long and hard enough, one would find someone, or several someones who could recite a negative experience with any service provider. Hell, even I had some dissatisfied clients over the 30 years I've practiced law. |
