What is the maximum 'safe' weight for cargo on the front rack of a GTV300IE ? The rack say 4KG which seems awfully light...

my front rack says 6 kg maximum but I usually load a 13 kg tent on there plus 2 air beds at 4 kgs each .
travelled 1000`s miles with no problems at all but that's my choice to overload and the wifes to pack too many clothes on the rear rack lol

Thanks Matrobbo!

I ended up using it to pick up a roll of turf/sod from my big box DIY store..
Used 2 bungee cords and it was fine!

That load rating is what is known as a "CYA" rating. Keeping it low heads off possible lawsuits.

The great thing about the GTV300IE rack is that it is stationary...
The sod/turf was quite wide, but since the load did not move with turns, it worked out great!

It went straight on when you and the bike turned? Use better bungee cords. Razz emoticon

My top case is rated for 8 pounds. I weighed my daughter's backpack when we got back from school the other day and it was 15.5. She complains that I refused to let her get a backpack with wheels. What kind of character and strong muscles would that build?
