just read this in the news. Sad loss of a great talent 71 isn't that old.

Sad news indeed. Fine actor, will be missed. RIP.

How sad... he was relatively young (71).

Reading through his bio on Wikipedia, it seems his parents had an admirable philosophy: RIP

One of my favorite British actors ever... R.I.P., Bob.

I liked him a lot, great actor. My favourite things he did are Mona Lisa, the Long Good Friday and Pennies from Heaven.

Gone to the big stage in the sky.

Sad... young yes... absolutely loved him in the Toontown classic, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit".

Same here. I also enjoyed "Last Orders" quite a bit, which had a great ensemble cast.

I Remember when he started out, he played in a kids program on TV as a delivery mans assistant. They went around in large van. The idea of the program was to help kids to read and write. Anyone else remember?

That was the first time I heard his distinct voice. I've followed him ever since, a truly great actor.

Yikes! First I've heard it. I first saw him in "Shoulder to Shoulder," a BBC series on suffragettes. I think his greatest role was as Arthur Parker in Dennis Potter's "Pennies from Heaven," (not to be confused with that awful Steve Martin movie).

This was the first time I saw Bob Hoskins in a movie and I have enjoyed seeing him in several others since. He was a talented actor.

The Long Good Friday remains one of my favorite films and made Bob Hoskins one of my favorite actors. In reading the comments from his fellow actors, it sounded like he was a truly great man.

I loved him as Nikita Khruschev in "Enemy at the Gates" - small, but powerful role...

My favourite scene from Who Framed Roger Rabbit:

If you ever get the chance to see Hoskins, as one of the main actors in the film "Last Orders" watch it.

Alongside, Michael Cain, Helen Mirren, Ray Winstone, Tom Courtenay and David Hemmings.
In a screen version of the Graham Swift novel, Hoskins (and the rest of the cast) deliver a truly simplistic.

RIP Bob, unlike most of us, you really did leave a genuine legacy. Thank you.

I was blessed with a feline for 17 years that I named "Smee".
