Hey all just wondering it seems like everyone on this board has perfect scooters does anyone besides me ride around with a beat up scooter? My brother crashed mine and I cant afford to get it fixed so I put a couple bandaids on it and kept riding! If you do show me some pictures so I know I'm not alone out here!!

P.S. He also crashed my moms scooter you see in the background
Before the bandaids

Think you will get more response here in General Discussion rather than the Scooter Gallery.

Yeah slapping a sticker on the problem is pretty common. I did on my last scooter after a slight mishap. Don't have a picture though.

No, no one else on this site would ever incur unending shame by riding a banged up scooter. Okay we might, but we certainly wouldn't tell anyone about it!

Sounds like you broke the first rule of scooter ownership - never let your brother (or best friend) go for a ride on your scooter. That can only end in sadness and guilt!

I highly suggest your brother buys himself a Hummer or a Jeep. No Scooterin for him!

Ride it as is. Life is too short for anything to look pristine and unused.

My GT is now over 8 years old with lots of miles, so it gets dinged a little as the years go by.

It fell over once when parked on a rocky driveway and got trailer damage when towed home from Denver.

But it is kept in garages when not ridden and the paint is in remarkable shape.

My main concern is in the mechanical side, so the scratches and scrapes get ignored for now. I might have it completely restored one day, but not now.

I ride a beater, so what?
My scooters been down twice by the wind. (I live in Chicago, go figure). It's been down because I crashed in and it broke my right leg. I still love it and It has the battle scars to prove it.

I wouldn't trade it for a beauty queen garage kept masterpiece. I love it's imperfections and the scars. I'm scarred and have a right leg full of titanium and I love myself too, why not my scoot!?!

So love your scoot, no matter what. And if it's a Vespa, love it even more!

The best thing that can happen is when you pick up your first scratch or dent--then you can stop worrying about keeping it in pristine condition. I'll say this about my scooters: I don't worry about keeping them in pristine condition or even close to it.

Mine is almost pristine again. Even without a few things people think it's a new bike and it's 7yrs old. Have a friend whose Vespa has been laid down more times than Kim Kardasian. Laughing emoticon Heres the winner (IMHO)) of the best rat bike that works.

Beat up scoots...

Some people take pride in beaten up things and deliberately beating them up for a reason.

For instance

They will take a brand new Fender Stratocaster guitar and beat it up.
Its called relicing. ("relic - ing" - creating a relic). It makes it look well worn and well used.

The merits of doing so often cause hilarious debates in forums that generally go weird.

You can even have Fender Custom Shop relic one for you. Its expensive way to get a great beaten up guitar.

http://www.stratoblogster.com/2013/04/fender-custom-shop-john-cruz-mb-1960.html

For me...my stratocasters are looked after and any wear and tear will be naturally obtained.

I like my scoots tidy.
