Mark, I am sorry we did not get together again before I left. I will make sure it happens next time.

Thanks all for kind words. Today was a no scooter day foir me and I walked to Alaska and back. Scooters are rolling in, but as expected there are a lot of no shows. Not sure how many until tomorrow at the riders meeting. Some are still down the road.

Bill are you and Hi Jack doing both ironbutts. Bagel got his. Your NOLA ride rolled in today.

See you NOLA.

Ken, sorry I missed you to. I would tell you to " be carefully " but not sure exactly what that means when you think about it. So..... Be safe, enjoy, and we will see each other next time.

You rode from FLORIDA to ALASKA just to turn around to ride back to NOLA? AND you seem to get up there faster then the return trip will be...

Like many other scooter fans, I find myself inexorably drawn to this event which is beyond the reach of most of us in terms of commitment, time, and perhaps courage, but within our grasp conceptually, unlike say, racing in the Indy 500 or the Tour de France. A perfect event for triggering our inner Walter Mitty. Recent leaps in personal technology have now made it possible to follow the Scooter Cannonball with better coverage than many major events had even a few years ago. I am already looking forward to more and better Go Pro video than two years ago. This year's route looks spectacular and the most photogenic yet. Lostboater's bug splattered windscreen is a perfect example of pictures that tell a thousand words.

The restriction to 250cc and under scooters is a good, if not necessary, change in the rules, and the organization and logistics of this event is impressive to say the least. My one question relates to the handicap formula and the use of a cube root factor rather than a quadratic one that would more accurately relate displacement/power with speed which, of course is a "square" function. The impact of using the cube root factor is to favor large displacement over small to a significant extent, it's just the way the math works.

Dave I will trade me Kansas ride for your Tuscany...
Ken Tuscany was amazing for sure but your expeditions this year are in the top tier of a whole other catagory, three rungs up.

When you're done with Big Red, and Little Red too, they belong in the Piaggio Museum. There are Vespa expedition bikes there that, while they were ridden on amazing adventures, don't match your exploits on those bikes.

I'd back an MV petition to Piaggio in a heartbeat, as I'm sure many other MVers would as well.

I have to say you have Vespa expedition packing down to a fine art.

Ride safely!
