It was a rainy weekend, so I decided to do some seat mods.

First, I was so impressed with Bikeguy's backrest, I decided to do one myself. I used the same bicycle seat but fastened it using a rod to the top case mount. When I want to open the seat, it swings out of the way. It can also be raised up for an upper back support.

Next, I've always loved my heated car seats, so I thought why not on the MP3? I purchased the Crimestopper heated seat kit from Amazon and installed it under my Shad seat. It comes with all you need including wiring (which I had to shorten quite a bit), relay, fuse and a two setting switch. You can see a faint outline of the heating pad under the seat, but the butt warming comfort factor on those cold days makes up for it.

Some great ideas there! You don't find the heated seat element gets in the way of seat sensor?

No, the sensor still works. But it was a little tricky fishing the wires through ...

Finally had a chance to test the heated seat on a cold early morning ride and I must say, it works great. It was so warm at one point, I had to turn it off. Hopefully, I've just extended my riding season by a few weeks

Hey I have a question. I just bought my mp3 and it's a bit tall. If I have the seat shaved will that effect the sensor

I didn't take pictures, but it wasn't too hard - the scary part was taking apart the Shad seat, but it stapled up nicely after. My staple gun wasn't powerful enough, so it gave me an excuse to buy a pneumatic air stapler which worked great. The important thing is to wire the relay to an accessory line so you won't drain the battery if you leave it switched on. I also had to shorten the wiring harness as it was made for a car and too long.
