So, this weekend, I got to check a couple items off my bucket list. Saturday at about oh dark thirty, I made my way to downtown Indianapolis to run in the Indy Mini Marathon.

When I started running about 4 years ago, this was one of the races I thought, "Someday, I'm going to be able to do that!" Saturday was that day. Four months of training paid off, and I was able to finish the race. I started cramping at about 11.5 miles, so I had to walk most of the last ~2 miles, but made it across the finish line under my own power in 2 hours, 47 minutes and a few seconds.

One of the really cool features of the Indy Mini is that you get to do a full lap around Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I didn't get down and kiss the yard of bricks because I was afraid if I did that, I wouldn't be able to get back up! I did kiss my palm and slap the bricks, though, which is good enough for me...

As I was running down the backstretch, I thought to myself, "Next week, Indy cars are going to be going down here at like 230 MPH. And I'm doing it at like 5..."

If you've never been there, it's unbelievable how big the place really is. I knew it was 2.5 miles around the oval, but until you're really there, you can't imagine the scale of the place.

So, I ran 13.1 miles and did a lap at Indy. Achievements unlocked!

Anyone else mark something off their bucket list this weekend?

Dont know if this was on my bucket list but it's major
I'm getting Married May 10th at Our Lady of Pompeii Shrine in Chicago IL.

The only thing on the bucket list is taking wedding pictures with my soon to be Wife's 1964 Vespa V90.

This is major though. Maybe bigger than a bucket list.

on a lighter note....

The only thing i've ever wanted to do is to visit the big stadiums in Football (or soccer as some call it).

1. The Emirates Stadium in London England. (i'm a huge Arsenal Fan).

2. Azteca Stadium in Mexico City (the home of Mexican Futbol)

3. Estadio Maracana in Rio De Janeiro Brazil

4. Camp Nou in Barcelona

5. San Siro (Giuseppe Meazza) Stadium Milan

6. Westfalen Stadion in Dortmund

7. Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid

8. Jeld-Wen Field in Portland Oregon (looks like fun)

9. Allianz Arena in Munich

10. Wembley Stadium in London

Congratulations! I ran that race a few years ago. It was cold and windy at the start so people were wearing garbage bags to stay warm. Once they started, they took off the bags and let them fly. One bag wrapped around my ankles and down I went on my knees, with the thundering herd running over top of me. It was frightening!

But I got up and ran the whole damn thing with blood running down my legs.

Rudechem, I'd say that certainly qualifies as a major life event/accomplishment! Congratulations!

Janice, it was like that this year, too. But maybe not quite as cold or windy. I was a bit jealous of the people who'd thought of the garbage bags, though, since I was just a little chilly standing there waiting for my wave to leave the starting gate. I couldn't believe how much stuff people were just stripping off and throwing along the side of the course...

Glad you survived it and were able to finish, even with your bad luck and injury. It feels like such an accomplishment when you're done.

And then the pain sets in...

Congratulations, CubsKing. Well done.

I can't imagine running around the Speedway. Must have been mind-boggling!
