So this evening after my last official class for the semester, I decided to take a short country ride, near where I live. There is a closed Air Force base called the Donaldson Center. This base used to be Donaldson AFB. The ride around the base is a short 7 mile ride around the perimeter road. The base air strip is still used so sometimes you can see planes take off.

While on my way home, which is less than three miles from the center, a frogging mother frogger decides s/he wants to ride my tail. I am doing the speed limit which was 35, for I do not believe in speeding. This person was so close that I could feel the heat radiating off of their headlights. They then pass me on a double yellow.

Seriously people, this tom foolery causes accidents and deaths. I have a low tolerance for dumb. If I had been hurt or worse killed they would have been at fault and doing time. Fortunately for me they decided to pass me after a manned fire department, but still I hate when people take risks with my, their, or others lives. As my roommate says "BACK OFF PUNK"!

That kind of behavior makes me slow down even more, but not when on two or three wheels!

Sadly, there was only a ditch to my right. I wish I could have pulled over.

If I had been in my car I would have slowed down. I do not tolerate reckless drivers. My friends joke that I drive like a grandpa, my goal is to get me and my passengers safely to our destinations.

I just do not get why people need to be in a hurry. It is so laughable when I get passed on a multi-laned road only for the passer to plant brakes at a traffic signal.

There are some big issues here. Do we want to become a bigger police state, no. Do we want black boxes in our vehicles reporting our every move live to the police, no. Do we want to be watched 24/7 by cameras or drones, no. If people do not wake up and stop thinking about themselves and think about all of us 1984 will occur.

All it is is selfishness.

I don't believe in speed limits. The only time a car behind me isn't getting smaller in my mirror is if there is a slow ass car in front of me and I'm in a no passing zone.

I can understand a bit what the car driver was feeling as far as wanting to pass. Many of our roads have ridiculously slow speed limits. But they should not have been tailgating you.

This happened to my a couple if weeks back. I was stunned by the actions of this idiot cager behind me. I guess the site of me on my bike caused the driver to act foolish. Really not necessary. Just look, admire, and keep it moving.

Sticky, I do agree that some roads have speed limits that are too low, and this was one of those roads.

I've thought about mounting a camera on the rear of my bike, facing backward. Sometimes the sight of a camera pointing at them will make people behave.

When I regularly rode pillion with my husband, I always carried a camera and if someone started riding our SS, I'd point it at them and snap some photos. Invariably they'd back off.

I see in Russia now people intently placing themselves where you have to rear end them when they hit the brakes, a lot of drivers now have camers going front and back to protect themselves from lawsuits. Its going to reach that point over here before long as the same practice has started in certain states.

gopro hero3+ wifi to your phone and use your phone as a back up camera + record.

When I was headed home it was around 10pm. I was not on the old base at the time the incident occured. There was nowhere to pull over, being that there was a ditch to my right. There were also deer out this night, I saw them when I was on the old base. I was not going to take a chance for a deer to pop out at me.

The dumbest thing I did was obey the law with very little alternatives. Where I was riding there are usually police looking for people speeding. This is a 35 mph zone that everyone, everyone but me, does 45 in. It is a great place to set up a speed trap.

I have worked on an airfield before as well. If I had been on the old base there would have been plenty of places to pull over; however, there were not where I was riding. I wish I could have pulled over but there just was not the opportunity.

And where exactly is one supposed to pull over on a two-lane road? Into the ditch?

Once upon a time I used to carry marbles in my pocket for occasions like this. They usually write it off to tires throwing up gravel.

I wasn't there so I don't know the actual layout of the road (or what Hadantor actually tried to do), but if this was happpening to me and I had no shoulder to pull of onto, I would have at least got as far over in the right side of the lane as I could in order to give the stupid cager every opportunity to get around me. For many impatient folks, deliberately and obviously giving space in the left and center part of the lane is as good as an invitation to go around. As stated, I wasn't there so I don't know if Hadantor handled this as well as he could have or it wouldn't have mattered what he did.

Well here i Australia the speed limit is ridiculously slow 60kph in town and the maximum that you can go any ware in the country is 110kph .,40kph over the speed limit is a loss of licence for 3 mths .Almost every one has dash cameras i have one on the front and back of my bikes and one in the car,and i have a pair of sun glasses with a camera and a voice recorder in them so they are on me all the time .This has save my bacon a few times especially with the police in court

Bikersmurff, I saw a road rage video that occured in Australia. I do not blame you for using cameras.

I also like the youtube channel Mighty Car Mods, those two guys make me cry laughing.

I'm wondering whether the OP was gauging his speed from the speedo or from a GPS (or equivalent). If from the speedo, the person behind had a right to get a bit fed up, as the OP was only doing 29-30 mph.

Actually, I was using for the first time an old droid X phone as a gps speedometer.

Oh Im aware, that the speedo is 5 mph short. This was one of the reasons I went to the old base. At that time of the evening no one is on the road but the deer.

I also had an iphone with to cross check the droid x.

I mounted a ram mount to the bike this past weekend so I could use the old phone as a gps, and keep the iphone under the seat charging. This way if I go on longer rides I can keep swapping phones to use as speedometers and one will always be charged.

The iphone is the only one connected to a cell provider at this time.

I learned early in my short Air Force career to CMA cover my beep! and have a back up plan. Sometimes 2 or 3.

Where you doing the speed limit per the speedometer or a GPS,? Because the speedometer reads around 4-5 mph slow. So if it reads 35 mph, your were closer to 30 mph. And even if you were right at the speed limit you were going to slow, I hate people that do exactly the speed limit.

Scooter is about 24" wide and lane is at least 10 feet wide. Move over and wave them by rather than have them behind me

I was using two cell phones as gps speedos. I swapped each one out to see which app I liked better. One is a Droid X the other an iPhone

The driver did pass me illegally on a double yellow line in a known area for speed traps. Im sure county makes really good money off of this stretch since EVERYONE does 45 in a 35.

OMG, they do 45 in a 35, just like in my town, w/o getting a speeding ticket, and in most of California. Hope those SOBs get what they deserve !!
