I heard about that race on the news this morning

I enjoyed a moment of middle-aged satisfaction today when I used my new hammer drill for the first time to put up some knife and utensil racks in the kitchen. Straight through tile and plaster like a hot knife through butter!

nothing where I was drilling. I've got a basic knowledge of how wiring runs, and there wasn't any logical reason for a water pipe to be located in the area I was drilling.

What I could use help with, however is opening my wretched, horrible, hateful loft latch, which is still stuck shut after nearly killing me when it dropped open earlier in the week and hit me in the head. it's got a sort of eyelet thing on the outside which turns one way to move the teeth of the catch forward, and the other way to move them backward. I've turned it miles and miles both ways now, and the crunting thing is still stuck shut as soon as i get it open, it's getting ripped out and replaced with an upward-opening latch and a very basic ladder. I hate this spring-loaded monster Crying or Very sad emoticon

Don't worry, I'll sort it at the weekend with my newly developed physique.

Yes Trepp I do like to run but I'm taking an enforced sabbatical at the moment due to having a rather sore plantar fascia.
I've pulled or bruised it at one stage and it's taking an age to heal.
Icing it for hours each evening seems to be helping but I'm counting the days until I can run again.
To fill the gap I'm cycling and did a 19 mile ride after work on Monday which was great fun in the dark.

Birreh !

ah ha ha ha ha haaaaa .... i have defeated the evil loft ladder. finally got it open this morning. now considering options for a lighter aluminium ladder - i still live in fear of that wooden monster hitting me on the head again.

i also now have a proper fridge and a washing machine - slight delays in installing the latter, as Gobby decided to run under the kitchen units just as I was pushing it into position. I can't finish the job until he decides to come out, and he seems keen to stay put for now. Typical Gobboo

more domestic joy: my composter turned up today Clown emoticon As I was setting it up, I noticed my neighbour sawing up something in the garden - turned out to be an old solid pine wardrobe, which has provided me with some gorgeous solid pine shelves for my alcove - they've got just the weathered look that I was going for

all in all a good day so far. Just getting ready to go out with cat cage in hand, back to my old place to see if I can capture cat number 3. wish me luck folks.

Good luck with it genie - when I first got Calvin I attempted to keep him inside for weeks in line with internet guidance (fool).

He went mad after four days and I decided to let him out. I buttered his paws.

On letting him out he just proceeded to clean his paws carefully in the garden and then sodded off.

Kristin is suffering badly with plantar fasciitis in her right foot. The very best help is being provided with a $20 'boot' that she wears overnight. At least she can walk in the morning straight out of bed - though it does restrict horizontal gymnastics. Second best help is a pair of properly sculpted insoles. Special Crocs on their way - who knew they made them for this!

So good luck with it Bill, realistically it could take months to heal.

you can bet there is some sort of group out there who wear orthopaedic bodywear in bed whether they need it or not perhaps there's a forum?

no joy getting kitty she was sitting in the front hall of the building when i turned up - she ran out the front door, into next door's garden, and sat there sticking her tongue out at me. twat

My other half suffers with the same, she finds a tennis ball under the foot rolling backwards and forwards while sitting watching tv or on the computer helps. A rolling pin does a similar job.

Add Ms. Strick to the list. She will use a wooden baseball bat or a lacrosse ball under her feet to relieve the discomfort.

She has the "boots" that she wears at night when it's really bad, but a good pair of shoes/insoles are what works for her.

Best of luck Bill!

I woke up this morning and asked David whether we were still British. He checked and said yes.

Turned on the radio and they were playing the Sousa march used to introduce Monty Python's Flying Circus. I left it on as it seemed entirely appropriate.

kitty - yes, I'll still need Paul. I want him to do the alcove shelves in the living room - they need to be nice and straight and strong enough to hold a load of books.

The pine boards are for a set in the dining room alcove - they don't need to be as strong, and as I'm looking for a 'rustic' effect anyway, I'm happy to put them up myself Razz emoticon
