I was trying to forget about that, helping at British Vespa Days in Northampton with a couple of hundred riders... Great to chat to Pepy, Rad and Adam over a cuppa while it bucketed down outside. Brightened up on the afternoon rideout and Sundays weather was glorious. The local IAM group rocked up at the venue on Sunday morning on various Triumphs, Hodnas and BMWs for some observed rides. Not sure they knew what to make of a few hundred Vespisti camped out on the grass...

My middle aged status has taken a small dent as we're going to see Alabama 3 in December.

As you know I like a bit of twinkle between my legs,... Got this stainless steel footwell plate from a stall at Mersea Island. £20 including stainless screws. The guy, Mel, I think does 5 or so plates Fred Perry, Trojan etc, and can do one offs to your design. Thought maybe a Donk one some time. The quality is superb. I've carried stuff on it and bungeed stuff to it. The gap between the plate and the rubbed cover for the battery is big enough for a newspaper, a bacon sandwich or a kebab. Looks even better in the flesh. Gass silver machine gts 250

So I arrive at one of our "premier" customers this morning to take a set of wheels of his ( not to retail ) Lamborghini Diablo.

It's parked in his private garage next to his Porsche 908 and 3 classic Alfa Romeos which probably don't start anyway but who cares, they are Alfa's.

The garage is floored with some very nice ( probably Italian ) tiles so rather than put the axle stands right on them it was suggested that we put some spare tiles underneath to spread the weight.

It was looking good until I gently lowered the nose down on the front stands and B,Bang ! both tiles simply exploded into little bits and I shit my pants.

Lucky for me the one's underneath remained intact so counting my blessings I sawed a scaffold board in twain and used that.

What jolly larks.

Wait until I tell you the story of when I was buying clothes in Amsterdam in a "specialist shop" and a very handsome young man told me that my credit card wasn't far enough into the machine and how I should push it in a little further.

So this is where I was last Sunday morning. Wish we were still up there. It is in my hometown of Gorham, NH. Played that course many times.

One of our drivers saw a guy get stuck by lightening in Folkstone a few days ago.

An almighty bang but no flash then the poor guy got thrown up the road.

Ambulances. Police, the works.

I hope he's OK.

Rode through Gorham in July on my way to Wilton Me., I really enjoyed riding on rt.2 and seeing the Presidential range from that angle, beautiful country.

Bid Καλο Ταχιδι to Lostboater and his Mrs this AM as they departed Paros for the next stop on their Greek Islands Odyssey and Points Beyond. Great folks with whom we found we had much in common, or as we say in Greek, Μικρος Κοσμος.

Over the past 10 days, we were able to introduce them to all kinds of local food and drink. Many traditional Greek dishes who's names had more syllables than the average English sentence.

Mikros Kosmos? I like that.
