circle
There were easily 200 of them doing a lap of the circuit just before the race kicked off and just as many again in the car park plus one or two DS's.
I'd say there were about 70 of them in various forms of tune at the start of the race and maybe 40 of them still running at the finish. The faster ones keep the Citroen 4 speed gear box but remove the original engine and chuck in a BMW 850 bike unit which makes them fly. We tracked down our favourite driver from last year - Edmond whose Dyane caught fire on the last lap in dramatic fashion. He told us of the moment fuel ignited on a hot engine so he pulled over, reached for the fire extinguisher trigger and nothing happened. He had to sit in the car while the marshals came to his rescue because it was safer than getting out as the car torched itself. The flames rose to about 5 meters. Sadly this year his car went out with a failed wheel bearing but he says he'll be back in 2015. More later. Bill x ⚠️ Last edited by Bill Dog on UTC; edited 2 times

fake
At the start of the race there were about 50 VW "Fun Cup" cars going around.
They looked like Beetles but where built on a space frame with fibreglass bodies with a rear mounted VW/ Audi 1.8 turbo engine kicking out around 130 hp. It rained in the first hour ( which it always does at Spa) and these things were doing the most crazy power slides on the off camber sections of the track. Great to watch if you're a child like me. Genie and I also went on an adventure. More later. Bill x |

Bill - PM'd Genie last night about Saturday but I know the MV PM system can sometimes be a bit slow/erratic. Would you check she got it, so I can finalise my plans. I thank you.
PS Looking forward to a hug Saturday ![]() PPS I still remember watching 2CV racing at Donnington years ago. An absolute hoot - no wonder you like it. |

For the first time I'm skeptical about what life enhancing benefits this new bit of technology is going to give me. Maybe I've reached 'too much tech' already? Hmmm, anyway, I'll guess I'll work that out when I get it. That is, unless my wife or daughter don't nab it and I never see it again. |

My iPad rapidly became one of my most used gadgets. Having something that turns on instantly and gives you access to all your information is incredibly handy.

i have to agree. i no longer take my laptop anywhere with me - the ipad does everything i need it to do and is especially useful when travelling. a wireless keyboard is a great addition.
