I've just crashed. It's been very cold lately and I went down under normal braking on what must have been a slippery patch in the road. I am mostly fine - kitty is taking me to emergency to make sure - but the scooter is in a very bad way. I was only insured TPFT so it looks like I may be taking the train to work for the foreseeable.

I hope you are alright. You can always get the scooter fixed.

Scooter is leaking all it's body fluids onto my front walkway and the key is jammed into the ignition barrel and won't come out. Leg shield is trashed. I doubt it's worth fixing.

some good news - I'm physically fine I was seen very quickly in A&E and pronounced fit and well, aside from a pulled trapezius muscle that will probably hurt more in the morning. yay ... but nothing's broken.

And not a mark on my new Macna jacket. literally, not a scratch. A slight mark on my trews but no tearing. handlebar muff was shredded but they were on their last legs anyway. gloves protected by muffs

the scooter .... I've probably killed it. Put the cover over it cos I can't bear to look at it. I'll strip it down and tell Scootech to come and collect it next week

I slid a long way on the side of my head so it's got some pretty deep scratches and will probably need to be replaced. Unfortunately there's no way I can afford to replace like for like, so I may have to carry on wearing it - my head didn't hit the ground hard, it just slid, so fingers crossed it's still okay.

one more observation before I hit the sack .... the A&E doctor who saw me said that I was the third motorcycle accident he'd seen since starting his shift a few hours earlier.... so something was definitely afoot on the roads today
