Yesterday I removed the front glove compartment to install a new right leg trim. A frustrating task. But I did it with minimal amount of scratches to the trim. In the process I had to screw the cover on three times because the immobiizer/transponder aerial antenna kept coming off.
Now I turn the ignition key to the start position. The instrument panel lights up with the green headlight and oil red indicator lighting up as well.
I tried to start the scooter. Initially I could hear the starter and then just a swishing noise. Today I can only hear the starter trying to roll over.
but the engine does not fire up. After screwing the cover back on several times I noticed that the code light is not lighting up at all. Ah!
Even after having removed the key both in the off and lock position I found no joy. I thought maybe attempting to reprogram by using the master key might help but it didn't. The code light continues to stay off.
I am thinking that my antenna aerial is the culprit since I might have used some excessive force removing the cover. It came off several times as I maneuvered everything to tighten the screws back on.
The antenna looks a bit worn right at the connection to the ring. As you can see it is a one-pice (unlike the GTS's) and there is not a connnector to
remove at the ring end.
I removed the rubber boot at the other end adjacent to the ignition control unit to look at the connection and it looks okay (please see photos).
Today I have checked the main fuse under the 'no pet' carrier and the corresponding one in the glove box block as per manual electrical diagram
and they are both fine.
I have just performed an evaporectomy so I thought I might have compressed the HT coil bundle on the left upper middle underseat compartment.
The manual says that the ignition coil and the CD
The scooter was starting just fine before. What is going on?
PS. Meanwhile until I get some feed back from you my battery needs a bit recharging so I put it on the tender until I get a green light.
