Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations on an external microphone (boom or lapel) that is good to use with a GoPro Hero? I am going to purchase the 3.5mm audio mic jack and wanted something that will be good for interviews and sounds of the scooters' motors at the upcoming ScootNM Rally.

Best
Ross

I have a Drift HD and like the external mic. It's just a normal old mic so it'll work with any standard audio input. There is an adapter for your goPro that will let you use any old mic as well. The first two items on this page:

Hi CapUncular,

Do you use the external microphone on the BH Photo site? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Are you planning on narrating while riding? If so I'd recommend a smaller lapel style mic so you can clip it to your helmet strap or something closer. The size of the mic you linked to would be really hard to stuff up in a full face helmet IMO.

I do not plan on narrating while riding. I do want to interview people and capture the ambient sound of the ride. But I will not do any narrating as I will be communicating with my friend on a Sena.

I like the look of the MicW iGoMic Stereo Microphone for GoPro Cameras. I wonder if it will be good for interviewing as well as capturing ambient noise from the scooters??

I bet it would, looks like that is what it's designed for.
