I just bought a 2009 200GT with 117 miles. Been sitting covered in garage for a long time. What service should I do before riding it?

Welcome to the forum dpg2004! I would change the fuel, oil, brake fluid and coolant. Check the air filter and air up the tires. The carb may be gummed up. Congratulations on your purchase. The GT 200 is an awesome scooter.

You got a fine scooter. I am always pleased to see another Granturismo join the forum.
I, personally would do nothing if it is runnung well. If not, I would find the problem, probably fuel feed issues, and change fuel lines and clean the carburetor. Then change oil at the usual 600 miles. But most of all, I would ride the crap out of it. |

at 117 miles for a 5 year old bike its not even broken in. Other than old fuel issues (gas breaking down and gumming up the carb- run some Seafoam gas conditioner thru it) I'd check the soft bits (tires, fuel lines for cracking). It may need a new battery too. I have around 9,000 miles on a 2008 and the only problem I had other than the occassional exhaust gasket giving out (it starts to sound Harley-ish) is the charcol canister. If you have one of those, remove it before it starts to give you warm-start problems. a very solid bike and the first of the large-frame new breed. I keep thinking maybe I should trade it for a newer one but whenever I get close to doing so, I always seem to like the simplicity of the origional better. Enjoy!

A warm Aloha and welcome to the from from Hawaii. Replace the lines like Rider said. They go south over time. Change the oil, hub oil. and brake fluid. Check the tires and off you go. Love the 200's. We have a lot of them over here and are great scooters. Got any pics? Have fun and be careful out there.

Congrats on the nearly new GT! It's been neglected and needs to see some fun outside of a garage.

SCORE!!! Follow the advice you've already received, then ride it like you stole it (which, in a way, you did!). I figured out that the fellow I bought my ET2/50 from only rode her 26 miles a month. I've done four times that in the two weeks I've had her! Your scoot can't even claim THAT high mileage!
