Modern Vespa

Just got stranded on the side of the road, my gts lost power and engine cut out, lift up the box and this tube to the air box was disconnected, is reconecting it enough to get going.

That is the breather tube for the airbox if I am not mistaken. But it is not the problem. Your Vespa will ride with it disconnected you just may loose a bit of gas in the process.

You won't lose any gas - just a bit of oil mist, perhaps. That is not the problem.

Check the spark plug cap lead wire first. It can come off the plug.

I re-attached the cable but that engine wouldnt turn over. Held down the starter for a while and eventually it started back up but would barley go over 10mpg and I could hear a metal clanky noise.

Then it cut out again, the starter worked but the ending wouldnt catch.

I pulled out the air filter to make sure it wasnt choking it but it was fine.

Had to walk it back to work, 2miles, super fun.

Glad you're ok and able to bring the bike to someplace safe. How is your engine oil level? Hub oil level? I hope you get her back on the road soon.
