Got the carb on last night, and got out to test it today. Adds lots of pull in the low and mid range, but not so much up top. Acceleration is even faster now, but little gain in top speed. I can quickly get to slightly over 60 indicated now (stock it was a struggle to get to just below 60, with just the pipe could get to 60 with some time), but it just stops. Solid pull up to 60, then nothing.
Put that underseat helmet hook on. Why don't these come stock? So ingenious. There's even slots in the seat pan for the hook. Haven't put on the new seat cover, but it is nice, thick vinyl, well sewn, too. On a helmet note, what's the opinion of the Nolan N20? |

Not really a shining example of manufacturing extravagance on Piaggio's part. Not trying to be a dick And if you're getting rid of your Rally, I'll take it. |

Well found out two things today and a new record.
First, I finally checked the timing mark on the ground strap of the plug... and determined I need a higher octane gas. Poured in a dash of octane booster, checked the mark again, octane is a little high. Will run this tank dry and fill with 89 rather than 87 next time. With the stock set up, 87 was actually too high of an octane. Two, did an actual plug chop and determined the 100 main jet is way lean, no color at the base of the insulator. Which is weird because the 100 seemed to give me better performance than the 102, but that was before the octane booster. Went up to a 104 and will do another chop tomorrow. Third, I got it up to 63~4 indicated, highest speed yet on flat ground. This was also with the 100 main and before the octane booster, too. |
