The 50R was the same size but did produce a higher bhp. I believe the road legal Dream50 AC15 does about 5.6 hp. It's a very high reving engine.

Yeah Mr.j, I have looked at the takegawa stuff. They do a nice 89cc kit

Both the Dream50 and 50R were built to commemorate the CR110 from the 1960's racing scene when they had 50cc racing at the Isle of Man. I've been reading up on it...that was some cool stuff back then

Great looking bike Rod! Is it road-registerable? I see there were some released for race only.

NHS, I see it says 7ps which converts to 6.9hp.

Yeah, I thought the decimal had to be shifted to the right on that. Still, 6.9HP is quite a few ponies and with that little bike, it must be a rocket.

Today we unboxed a parts order from SIP and started putting the v90 engine back together on the small door one. Discovered one missing part and its a rare part Crying or Very sad emoticon

if anyone is holding a rear brake back plate for a 1964 v90 please message me. we could have this bike back together this weekend but without that part it will wait until my husband comes home from his next hitch at work.

The Dream 50 like mine was released only in 97 and 98 to the Japanese market, always as a road legal bike, then for some reason, the 50R was imported into the states in 2004. I believe it was always the black frame and silver tank and only for racing.

There seems to be a few around for sale that have never been ridden, but in collections...I think that is a waste. Mine has done 700 miles. I understand only 3000 were ever made.

The 1962 Honda CR110 they were based on is pretty rare. I saw one recently for sale in the UK for 28,000 British pounds.

Those bikes look great but I've never seen one in North America. Skyteams are available in Canada. You can even order one online and they'll send it to you in a semi-crated box for home assembly. Although, it doesn't have the same cache' as the Honda being Chinese with a Lifan motor.

Cold Ride!
I'm fairly new to Vespa riding, especially in the cold season. (We had scooters in Vietnam)

It was 35 degrees but sunny so I thought I'd hit the Post Office and get a coffee. She started on the second kick and although I was bundled and had full face helmet, It was cooooooold!

Spoke with a man I could hardly understand. Hopefully the part I need is what he is sending me. Thanks to Vader for getting me in touch with the guy. I don't know what the part should look like because it's missing and all I can do is wait and see.

I've seen a motorcycle fatality happen on that road. It has inherent dangers of it's own. Asshole saboteurs need not be one of them.

Agree. Stopped riding it on a motorcycle 20+ years ago. Too crowded, too many sightseers, too many distracted dads in minivans, and too many other weekenders not used to driving on mountain roads.

God, I remember that. Didn't the guy tear off because one of the riders tried to assault him? Regardless, what a bunch off asshats. It's one thing when it's the other guys fault, but when your antagonizing the guy and hogging the road.

I also knew a guy in the Marines who rode and he wore armored gloves, busted some guys window by punching it after the guy nearly killed him.
