Got to work on my smallframe clutch exchange. Tired of slippage on hills in 4th. Got to clutch nut and realized that the torque I used + the loctite I used were stronger than the clutch spring. Holding the top end doesn't do much good if the spring slips on ya. Going to have to man up and buy an electric impact after all this time. That should free the bugger.

You could always stand beside the scoot when you kick it. As oppposed to astride it? Start it, give it a couple blips, pop in the choke, hop on and go

Also going to pop a pair of these lights into the bar ends as side marker lights. Had already been thinking about how to add some side reflectors/lights that would be unobtrusive and blend into the scooter unlike the stock reflectors I removed because they looked stuck on (because they were) and ugly, and were too low to work. Already thought about using bar end indicators but too expensive, too high wattage, and too difficult to install. Then I saw these on Amazon. Also thinking about putting two inside the taillight to shine to the side, since the reflector directs all the light back and none to the sides.

Damn, installing those lights was even easier than I thought. Main difficulties were the cold and a cluttered garage. Wires fed right through the tubes, spliced right into the parking light wire. And they are fucking bright, almost too bright for side markers, but everyone else can suck it, I get blinded by HIDs and misadjusted headlights all the time. If only I could wire them to work as both side markers and turn signals, maybe some sort of relay/transistor that will cut the circuit when it receives a pulse from the turn signal wire?
Phone's camera doesn't do them justice, just the two light up the garage

Bought a new Michelin S83 to put on the spare.
Wrestled with it for an hour but couldn't get it on the rim... tried everything... soap, Windex... stood on it, kneeled on it, clamped it, poked it... the damn thing would not fit. Which was strange since I had no problem putting two on last summer. Then it dawned on me. Took the tire to the kitchen, filled the sink with hot water, and let the tire soak for a few minutes. Wahla. Slipped right on. |

We tried the same thing a while back when we were looking at options for turn signals... you're right, those LED's are super easy to install, just cut a hole in the end of your grip and pop em in, and yeah, they will flash if you hook em up directly to your flasher, at least ours did...and they do put out a decent amount of light. The only downside, at least for us, is that they aren't very visible from behind.

I found they have excellent visibility from the side and behind, but can barely be seen from the front, since the handlebars angle backwards. I know I could wire them straight into the turn signal wires, but I want them to blink when the turn signals are on, but stay on when the turn signals are off. I installed them primarily to increase my side visibility at night since I felt it was lacking, the taillight shone directly to the rear and the headlight to the front, and very little light to the sides. I just think it would be nice if I could wire them as side markers and auxiliary turn signals. Debating if I still want to wire some inside the taillight as rear side markers.
And I thought I was so smart when I saw them but someone already thought of using them as bar ends. |

I know what a relay is, but does anyone know of one small enough to fit two in the headset? Otherwise I would have to wire probably from the battery cowl to fit a standard sized relay.

I feel stupid
Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Directed-Electronics-8616-Relay-Assembly/dp/B000CJ05WW/ref=sr_1_14?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1419937425&sr=1-14&keywords=relay Pretty sure the LED draws about 700mW (that's what a different brand draws). Other than the CDI and coil, the wiring on the Stella 4T is the same as the 2T. ⚠️ Last edited by Neurotic-Hapi-Snak on UTC; edited 1 time

Thinking about it, I could wire up all my turn signals as running lights, but I would have to switch to LED bulbs and a solid state flasher, since the stock 21W turn signal bulbs would drain the battery in a snap.

after 3 days of a lot of work, I got my Lambretta pretty much done.. there are a bunch of little things to do yet, but it's pretty much there.. I'm going to add some floor rails to the smoked plexi boards I did.
I haven't started it, as I'm waiting on a fuel tap, but when I get it, I'll kick it over and hope my electrical works (it should.. sfvsr was nice enough to make me a diagram and walk me through it).. but it's still me and I'm not famous for my electrical fiddling.

Very nicely done there, Mr Vader! Amazing attention to detail and it's so clean you could eat off of it. Well DUH, it's obviously Vaderbilt.
PS: No fuel tap? You got spark? Put a funnel & a fuel line to the carb fitting and fire that puppy up!!! |
