Yesterday I brought home a bike for my husband. Today I am adjusting to seeing it in our collection and its definitely the odd man out but I think it will fit in eventually.
a late 60's (gotta verify the model still) Sears 250 "Twingle"
Titled as a 1967, was listed for sale a couple years ago as a 1969 so I will find the model number and actually get a correct year....
My husband is working on a tugboat and couldn't test ride it and so I took my dad. It runs and the price was reasonable.

V oodoo. Here's a full sized picture of Dan's Twingle. It's a Puch and is Austrian. I will have my work cut out for me when I need to find parts. The company in Wisconsin was out of parts we needed often for the DS60. I did find the supplier's website in Austria but that will be challenging to navigate I'm sure. It's so goofy! If interested look up a twingle engine on YouTube and be amazed. It's fascinating to me. Nerd emoticon

this whole summer has been bollox, I think in 8 weeks we have had 4 complete dry days and I have managed one decent run on the scooter. I use it everyday for work and when you have been soaked already, the will to go out again and experience the same thing, slowly wears on your will to live. in fact I have never been so scunnered with scooters that I can't be bothered working on next years project, as Im thinking, whats the fcking point.

its not the fact "you live up there" its the fcking west coast of Scotland, I think in July we had over one meter of rain. I left the scooter out all afternoon and at one point the thunder & lightening was so impressive I stood at the front door and watched it for half an hour, then the sun came out so I decide to go for a wee run and the scooter ran like a bag of shite, probably because the electrics and carb were soaked and even a good blast would not dry the engine out, more than likely got water in my carb now.

That sucks. We've had a pretty wet and cold winter here (by our standards anyway). That and too much shit to do has me hardly riding at all lately. Nice day today - gonna ride to the shops at least.

Don't mean to be mean but I couldn't do it. I'd end up in the bath with the hairdryer. You boys should move out here.

Had an odd thing happen today. Bumped the mirror when I was getting the scoot out. Saw it move a bit and thought I'd snapped another fucking stem. Rode off as I was in a hurry. Stopped at the lights and the mirror swung towards me and must have snagged on the throttle cable. Scoot was revving like crazy and I couldn't move the throttle at all. Killed the scoot and pulled over. Took me a little while to work out what happened. Pulled out the mirror and good news is the stem hadn't snapped - just come loose.

I am reading about all of your complaints about the rain and cold and we are having record heat and drought in a place where we usually don't have to worry about rain and water shortages.... I can't remember the last time I drove my car to work.... I don't like driving in rain because of the slick roads.

Sending off paperwork so I can get collector plates on a bike I acquired from V oodoo currently.

I was down there yesterday after work. this dude has a space saucer that fits over his portable bed, and a super beater scoot with a sidecar. He is headed out to the desert to watch the Perseid meteor shower. No doubt some Orange Sunshine is involved, or mushrooms of the magic variety. he was loading the sneak-a-toke before he drove away. What The? emoticon

it was a trip to be sure.

meteor shower should be cool, NASA is hosting a live stream

I STILL have my 10-up Dr Martins (pre-AirWair) that I got for my 16th Birthday, yeah the soles are flat & sides blown out due to my mutantly wide feet (not good in the wet!), the insoles are pretty much gone... but damn it all they have "Dr Martin" tags on them!
I ride with them now, as they offer ankle protection, & look right

Stopped at the lights and the mirror swung towards me and must have snagged on the throttle cable. Scoot was revving like crazy and I couldn't move the throttle at all. Killed the scoot and pulled over. Took me a little while to work out what happened. Pulled out the mirror and good news is the stem hadn't snapped - just come loose.
Fixed my mirror and worked out what happened. As the mirror came loose and unscrewed it jammed against the handlebar inside the headset and locked the throttle on.
