There is also a random element where "reasonable" times are written on bits of paper and randomly assigned to a rider at the end... this part is a bit mysterious. Suffice to say you still need some luck.

Took the newly rebuilt ET3 out for a break in ride. Tried it the Italian break in method and found I had a gnarly air leak. Fiddled with the carb 10 times during the ride and no luck. Just sealed the slits in the carb and manifold with silicone like Voodoo mentioned.

Ugh I hate that stupid sleeve thing. I'd rock a stock carb if it wasn't for that piece of stupidity.

Spent the 8thn consecutive day living on the floor with my cat from left leg sciatica three days after getting a just new-to-me '65 LI125 up and running. I may have lost the rest of the season ( around here the high-sodium period is proceeded by the composting foliage which can be like grease) but it looks like I may have gotten out of blowing leaves and shoveling snow this year.

I'm using the Polini CP21 that clamps directly onto the intake manifold from my Primavera using a plastic bushing (Lambretta style):

Never leak at that manifold joint again!!

Was enjoying my ride home on the Primavera, pulled up to a light and had the dreaded racing engine. Air leak . Probably manifold to case, came loose there before. Going to get new studs and fasteners this time.

Got the ever loosening Spaco 24.24 off of my P200 - carb is indeed warped, you can feel the sticking throttle when you pull out the screws and just slide the slide back and forth. I never overtorqued that thing but the bolts just kept coming loose and it kept leaking at the carb box. Not sure what to make of that except maybe sketchy metallurgy on the part of Spaco?? The base wasn't flat at one point and I lapped it smooth but I'm done with this POS now.

Putting the real 20.20 delly back on - anyone got a genuine Delly 24.24 carb body??

Had a genuine delly that was warped to crap, such that the slide kept sticking and nothing I did could make that totally go away. My Spaco has never come loose. I would suspect your mounting bolt hole threads are loose, hence the fact that it keeps coming loose. Just sayin' - you might find the problem follows you around to a new carb

I figured this might be the case - going to do new studs and new sleeve bolts at the same time. Only problem is stud removal on M7 - can't just grab some nuts from the hardware store because of the odd size. I might have to cut down my old sleeve bolts just to have 2 nuts to do the double nut trick with. FWIW the studs are tight to the case now that I've pulled it all apart - i.e. the stud to case threaded joint looks OK.

decided to paint the replacement engine door on my ET3, because it was just the black base coat it shipped with, and that was looking rough.

Left the door to dry with some primer outside, and someone pulled into our driveway and ran the damn thing over!

Spent the afternoon with a rubber mallet trying to reshape it into something that will fit on my bike... got it back to a decent shape and ok fit, but it looks worse than when I started this paint idea Razz emoticon

That just plain sucks. ...sorry to hear it. Of all the spots their tires could have gone, they hit that small door.

Finally got the last part I needed to get my rally back on the road. Or so I thought. Right after I got the new crank installed I saw some catastrophic case damage on the flyside that had somehow previously escaped my notice.

So my cases are boned too. Like BONED.

Started putting back together the smallframe engine (finally).

New DRT tree with reinforced DRT selector spring went together with only about 10 minutes of trying. The ball installation tools are really essential. The selection is so stiff I can't get it out of 4th by hand with the gears installed. That should keep that sucker from popping out of 4th going up hills.

Spent about 10-15 minutes trying to install the new Olympia straight cut gear clutch basket. I wasn't sure if it was going in crooked or if the piece was machined wrong, but it was spinning really out of true with it 1/2 way in. A few more tries and it finally got seated correctly, looks fine with it in the final spot.

Got in the kickstart gear and spring then ran out of time. I have to break it up into small chunks or it will never get done.
