Today I installed a Malossi RS24 rear shock.
I also dropped the fork out. Not a big deal you would think. A headlight, speedo, pinch bolt, rubber mallet to nudge things off. Jack up the scooter, boards under the rear so the fork can drop out when jacked up Get out that special tool and break the top nut free, spin it off, tabbed washer...and then...top upper bearing race. Get that special tool...no dice...a little blaster and take a break. Back with that special tool that keeps poppin out. Time to go getto. Screwdriver into the notch, hit with acrylic mallet...hit harder...get out the BFCLs (Big F(&%^ing Channel Loks). It's a freaking bearing race....when the going gets tough...scooterists go pyro! Got the tourch out and heated. Melted a cable outer...changing it anyway...more heat...bigger hammer...finally broke loose! Melted a cable and a little damage to one electrical wire insulation. Vintage scooters rock! |

About all I did semi-scooter related today, other than buying some cutting fluid, was I put together a first aid kit from stuff I bought from the 100 yen store. Was sick of getting cuts, scrapes and other booboos and not having bandages and stuff. A couple days ago I cut myself cutting vegetables and had to apply pressure with a paper towel till it stopped bleeding, then used super glue to keep it closed. Macgyver. Of course my first aid kit has super glue, it works great.

I use "liquid bandage". It stings at first...like getting acetone into a cut but it works great.
Oh yeah...when I read the ingredients the first one was acetone. |

The center section of the record has a picture of the mid section of a man holding his johnson (actually his habds are around the hole in the center of the record... then... the outside of the cover had a little plastic bag stuck to it.. inside said little plastic bag was a small "condom" to go on the post the record slips on to. |

I know there were a lot of people who were sad/angry/righteous/incensed about Slashy wasting his money. I thought it would be interesting and amusing. Afterwards it could be determined if Slashy was indeed a highly paid front for the United Bodge Builders Association of South East Asia.
But closing the thread, seriously? I've seen much worse on here that was allowed to go on, this for example. https://modernvespa.com/forum/post2074833#2074833 Where was the high horse then? Free the Slash! |

Can we please...just once...get an aftermarket part that doesn't require modification?
Trap headset I bought from SIP a few years ago, had modified to mount a master cylinder. It came with a throttle tube and hardware, no shifter tube. No big deal, I'll just swap the one I have. OH NO YOU WILL NOT! When I swapped the tube it was too small a diameter and too long once I made up the cable holder, thing that rotates. Just on a whim I took it back apart and stuck a used steering upper bearing between the indicators and the shifter. Perfect fit. Take that shit apart...that is a stupid thing to do. Measure the tube length, 110mm, measure the bearings, 3mm, measure ID on headset, 24mm, go to SIP order new selector, 97mm long 24mm diameter. OK..so I can keep going, I can still re-cable, fish everything needed for the SIP speedo, OH NO YOU WILL NOT!!! Leave a couple of fish lines in because, well, when you buy the SIP speedo and fuel tap with low level indicator they should either include or tell you that you need that special harness. Toss that in with the selector thank you. OK..at least I can get the headset on. Pull everything through, slide it down...NICE! Just need to slide in the pinch bolt. OH NO YOU WILL NOT!!!! The conversion fork slot where the pinch bolt goes through is just a little bit too small for the bolt to fit through. Beat the snot out of it with a hammer? Well nice thought, would feel good...until I screwed it up. Pull the headset off, of course I have a nice new upper bearing (yeah....remember that old 3mm one?). So tape off and cover everything, get out the dremel and carbide bit for a little modification. I could have gone a little more but I enlarged the slot just enough to get the bolt through! I fucking love vintage! |

Manufacturing tolerances. After market go by the largest OEM tolerance, and figure that as the minimum. Hence why every cylinder kit I've had has had to be decked for proper squish gap.
I had to replace the shift tube on my Stella after a accident. The replacement would just barely fit without the spring washer between the shift cable pulley. Still a struggle to get the pin through the pulley and tube. ⚠️ Last edited by Neurotic-Hapi-Snak on UTC; edited 1 time

Nah, it's really easy. These are well made castings and the machining is quality too with really a fine finish, including where the tire mounts. Here they are in black.
