My tire was finally delivered by FedEx just before 7 pm. It got the scenic tour of Summit County as the next to last delivery spending 9 hours in the back of their truck. Oh well, it arrived and we got a couple hundred miles in before calling it a night.

Drove a portion of the route to Dillion in reverse then cut over to a shorter/faster route. The cutover was on what would be a great road on the scoot - in the daytime. Managed to avoid the deer and dogs crossing the road but the deer in particular were "interesting" moments.

Early and long day planned for tomorrow.

Free WiFi?
Just FYI for you CBers, the nearest Starbucks to Hyder is at 2417 Tongass Ave. Ketchikan, AK. It's 120 miles as the plane flies...because that's the only way you're going to get there unless you wait for winter to freeze all the rivers. Not sure you'll be able to catch their free WiFi from Hyder. I didn't know there existed such a place on earth that was that far from a Starbucks.
Everywhere...except Hyder?

No Starbucks but according to one (the only one) rating on Tripadvisor one can get good fish and chips at "The Bus" which is a really a converted school bus. http://www.hyderalaska.com/thebus.html They claim Robin Williams and Hillary Swank ate there.

There in spirit...
Just out of curiosity, who's going to be the first one to get to Hyder? According to http://www.followride.com/, TeacherQuinn is closest. There should be some sort of "1st" patch/sticker/beer mug/prize for the 1st person to get to each stage of the CB.

Actually...does anyone know where Ashrat's purple bear is? That would be kinda awesome if someone took it on the CB...you could 'award' it to the 1st place scoot each day so several people would have the chance to ride with it.

No but I think it is a good idea. May be too late though and it may be of some importance to whoever has it presently not to risk losing it. Maybe a symbolic stunt bear could be used in place.

I'd be happy to buy it if someone can figure out the logistics of getting it there. Who to send it to & what address? Maybe just send it to "The Cannonballers" at "The Bus"? I'll bet it would get there being such a small town. No idea how long it would take though. This isn't my CB so I'm not trying to butt in...I just thought it would be a really cool idea. I'll bet you whoever has the original would be more than willing to send it...that would be a perfect example of her spirit from what I've heard. Sorry I never got to meet her.

I have had problems shipping to Canada but since Hyder is in the US it will probably get there in time. It could probably be shipped right to the hotel care of one of the riders. Don't know the name of the hotel though. Maybe someone could chime in.

FWIW mail plane only goes into Hyder twice a week so mailing might be a problem. We aren't sure if we will make Canada tonight or tomorrow.
