Just about to fit a akrapovic to my GTS 300 and noticed in another thread that the genuine Vespa crash bars can't be fitted when using the akrapovic.

Are there any make of crash bars that do work with the akrapovic exhaust, some crash protection is better than nothing in my eyes

Cheers

Neil.

Here's my GTS-250 with Piaggio crash bars and Akrapovic exhaust. Both fit as if they were made for one another.

I never plan to crash but better to be safe than sorry, plus I do like the chrome .

This is the thread I found where the crashbars damaged the exhaust-
Akrapovic carbon fiber melting

Also PM Tuning state on there website "please note this exhaust system is not compatible with the Vespa original chrome kit or rear side protection"

I would be so gutted if I damaged the new exhaust as anyone would be.

Hi, I did mine - hit a bump and the sidebar crushed the cap of the Akrapovic. I raised the shocks and made up a bracket to lower the muffler, I think I'll probably remove the side bars as I like the akrapovic too much

Just realised, I had Faco sidebars not the Vespa ones (so maybe you'll be fine)

Hi.
I'm changing my 3 year old stock exhaust next month due to the crumbling look of the old beast.

I have the Vespa rear crash bars and want to fit either a Remus or Akrapovic

I'm a heavy lad and carry the misses so with that in mind - which exhaust should I choose to ensure the crash bars never come into contact with my new pipe.

Cheers in advance

Looking at the last picture above it looks 100% ok gap and widthwise.

So - I think Akrapovic is ok?

Not worried about the differences in bhp increase or noise level unless both are ok with the bars.

Cheers

Panic over. Answered in another thread - it's ok with the combo OEM Vespa rear crash bars and an Akra or Remus aftermarket exhaust.

As for any other combos me no care as me no have to worry about dem things.

Did the air aporia exhaust work without damage
Hi,

Did you end up fitting the akrapovic exhaust and did it survive with no damage?

I have a gts300 2015 and would love to fit one but want to keep the genuine vesp crash bars.

I had the side crash bars and the Akropovic exhaust on the bike for about a year together. Never had any problems whatsoever.

I am also 300+ lbs and ride with my 140 lb gf from time to time. So we were throwing over 450lbs at the set up and never touched once.

I also did this with stock shocks, and malossi shocks, but both sets of shocks I had the pre-load maxed out, so that may be a factor.

Thanks for the photos sharing, it is obvious that Akra fits perfectly with crash bars, however, for some reason, even on SIP webshop they claim that Akra (and Remus btw ) does not compatible with any type of side crash bars, what the heck??

Thanks for the feedback and looks good to go, I am also not sure why the websites say not compatible when clearly it is.

Will let all know how I get on.

That reference is for the older version made by logo scooter, the new bars work no problem.

So, I`m ready to pull the trigger on my new Akra for my red GTS! Can not decide between black and stainless color. Anybody knows any long term lasting issues with one or another? Which one to install?

Have ordered the "black edition")

interesting.. that akra muffler looks EXACTLY the same as the Malossi muffler for my BV350.. has the carbon fiber end cap self-destructed yet? I'm just curious as i'm still looking for a replacement.

so far so good. The Akrapovic end cap cost about the same ( I cracked one on my last GTS)
