Looking at upgrading carb finally to side draft.

Exploring what is out there in terms of intake manifolds for the LML cases and wondering which ones others have used? Any issues with something like this with the LML reed block cases?
https://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/product/carburettor-kit-malossi-phbh-30-with-manifold-kit-x360-reed-valve-2012_16158950?q=carb%20kit%20px

I am also looking at the MMW intake manifold that specifically states designed for these cases but its $$ and lead time made to order.

What about fitment under the cowl with different carbs, PHBH, VHST and jamming a fuel pump in there?

Did you get the mrp one that says for LML? Plug that oiler hole or does the intake block not even cover it?

I got one for a P200, and plugged the hole.

I have an MMW block and VForce4 reeds in it. Vader sold me the block back long ago and far away, and it's served me well since.

I still found that I needed to do some more grinding to match the reed block opening to the top of the block for the VForce4's, but other than that, it's been good.

It's a really solid piece of kit and it's nice that you can buy different sizes of manifolds, so I've been able to just buy that one part when I upped my carb size.

I have the MMW on my cutdown T5 track bike. To get the clearance for the carb I had to make a 3/4" thick aluminum spacer that gets sandwiched between the engine case and the MMW block. Without that spacer, my carb's float bowl would hit the plastic cylinder shroud. And since my carb was then higher than normal, I raised my cowls (that I cut down) up about another 1". I also welded in an additional rear shock spacer to the frame. I think it's about 1.5" tall? I also used a CB160 center tank so I wouldn't have to worry about a fuel pump.

Bought a used VHSB 34 QD carb on ebay, missing some parts for cheap.

Missing throttle cable screw that attaches to top of slide, lid needs replacing, missing throttle spring, needle is bent, and its seriously gunked up so needs some time in the ultrasonic cleaner.

I spent about an hour just scraping solid goo out of some of the larger passages and then swabbing with alcohol and cotton swabs.

Parts missing/broken is about $150 (if I go with the fancy metal rotating cable lid).. so total I'd be into it around $240.

Jetting included:

choke jet: 60
inner pilot jet: B30
outer pilot jet: 30
needle: K27
needle jet: 266FN
needle seat: 150
main jet: 165

Also came with 9 extra main jets in a case. a few duplicates.

k27 needle

5.2 gram floats

I think we tend to forget that the Largefame Vespa world is relatively unique in that we don't use side draft carbs by default. Even the smallie is a side draft.

Which means there are a TON of options out there if you want to match the carb to requirements, and not just size or PHBH vs. PWK.

Interesting article on the swappable venturi inserts/bushings in the VHSB 34 carb.
