Hi all,

I've just inherited a Vespa (yay!) but I'm having some trouble finding information on it.

It's vintage (maybe 1960's) and under the Vespa badge it says 'Ninety Club'.

Any ideas what model it may be?

Thanks

Thanks for your reply 😃

Here's a photo of it, it needs quite a bit of work before it will be on the road.

No, no frame number there. No further markings anywhere.

I got it from the Gold Coast in QLD but I'm not sure where it's from originally.

The ninety club badge confuses me, I haven't seen it on any others.

Thanks for the replies, I really appreciate it 😃

I believe there were a handful brought here... the "Japanese" smallframes were actually made in Taiwan oddly enough. But I think you're probably right about it's origins... nice find.

I reckon maybe the "90 Club" may have something to do with this - http://www.90club.com.tw/gallery.html

Ginch, I was told by the NZ importer that on a visit to the Pontedera factory in the mid '90's, he saw the Primavera ET3 and 50s scooters destined for the Japanese market?

Hmm... maybe we are talking about different things. I'm going on this - http://www.smallframes.com/taiwan.htm
I was told that the ones that made their way to NZ were made in Taiwan, don't know if there's any truth in that.

I see that Kito's one has holes in the headset that suggest it originally had this style of indicator on it... from the same site -

Frame number on that bike should be under the engine compartment dojo, along the top edge. Can we see a shot of the rear end and badges?

Thank you all so much

I've taken some more photos so I'll put them up.

I'm a real novice so I have no clue where the things are you've all suggested I look

The Taiwanese bikes look very similar, maybe it's one of those.

The one on the 90 page Ginchy posted are cool too.. I've seen those seats for sale and am kinda liking 'em. Maybe if I could take the chrome trim off and brush it or PC it could be good.. Just not sure about that strip.. But I think I could be comfy w/ my fanny in the rear dip.

Hmmmm

That rear tail light housing is pretty cool, really unusual for a 50 or 90.

No, I don't think it runs at all.

I'd like to get it running but after having a good look at it, it's probably too much for me. I don't think I could afford it 😔

Clubs up there are Canetoads and Borderline Nuisance (might be a closed club). But we don't even know if Kito is from QLD, just that he got it from there.

Does it have paperwork with it?

No, no paperwork with it.

I'm from QLD..I'll have a look into those clubs, thanks for suggesting them.

Do you think it is worth anything in this condition?

Condition? You mean dusty?

Jeez there are way worse looking scooters out there still running around just fine. If looks are anything to go by, it shouldn't take much to get it going. How's your mechanical abilities?

So if you inherited it, you must know something about it's history? I would call the QLD registration thingo and ask how you would go about registering it... I have heard that vehicles that have been imported without import approval could be confiscated and scrapped... might just be a story but better to know for sure beforehand. Don't give too much away to them though. If it looks hopeless then there are probably other methods...

It's a cool scooter. I wouldn't give up on it too easily.

I'd give ya a couple of hundie for it as it sits.

Looks to be in alright condition no major body issues.... does the engine turn over?
Clean the fuel system and fresh gas, new plug and gearbox oil recon you'd have it running for nix.

You got given it did you? If so you've got nothing to loose there's heaps of info here on these forums.

And it's gonna be worth shed loads more running.
